Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.

Reports any medication errors to appropriate personnel.
Orders, checks-in, and stocks pharmacy supplies.
Logs invoices as necessary.
Performs cash transactions.
Maintains cleanliness of pharmacy and dispensing area.
Assists with third party insurance billing and trouble shooting.
Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
Adheres to all statutes and regulations pertaining to a pharmacy technician.
Adheres to company policies and individual store guidelines.
Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
Administer Vaccines as allowed by law

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Certified as a licensed technician through a certified national program and maintains continuing education requirements to keep license active.
Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk is preferred. If applicable, vaccination certification as required by law.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), and field of vision.
Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions:
This position frequently involves a fast work pace in a retail store setting. Must be able to handle multiple tasks (filling scripts, answering telephone, waiting on customers, etc.) every day.
There is an occasional exposure to dangerous chemicals/solvents while compounding products and chemotherapy drugs.
Equipment Used to Perform Job:
PC with pharmacy software and printer, cash register, C.A.R.S. ordering system, pharmacy balance, scanner, calculator, telephone, fax, and copier.
Confidentiality:
Maintains the confidentiality of the customer's private medical information according to the HIPPA act.
Contacts:
Has daily contact with customers, general public, and suppliers/vendors. Has occasional contact with community or trade/professional organizations and federal/state governmental or regulatory agencies.

**Qualifications**
High School graduate or general education diploma (GED) required.
Iowa: Effective July 1, 2010, all pharmacy techs working in Iowa pharmacies must be nationally certified through the Pharmacy TechnicianCertification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). If enrolled in a technician training program, or not previously having worked as a pharmacy technician, must register as a pharmacy technician trainee within 30 days of starting technician training or employment. A technician trainee must become a nationally certified pharmacy tech within 12 months of starting tech employment or training. A pharmacy tech trainee who does not complete national pharmacy tech certification before expiration of the pharmacy tech trainee registration, must discontinue working as a pharmacy tech.
Minnesota: As of January 1, 2012 any individual registering for the first time as a technician needs to be 18 years of age or older. Must have active/current pharmacy technician registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy. For new technician registrants, the individual must complete a Sanford provided (or equivalent) pharmacy technician training program within 12 months of registration with the board.
North Dakota: Pharmacy Technicians must register as a Pharmacy Technician or Technician in Training with the ND Board of Pharmacy, before beginning employment in the pharmacy. An applicant for registration as a pharmacy technician in training must register for Sanford provided (or equivalent) ASHP accredited education and obtain national certification approved by the board of pharmacy within the board of pharmacy's timelines. The Pharmacy TechnicianCertification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) are approved certification bodies. The registration as a pharmacy technician in training or pharmacy technician will continue as long as the applicant maintains a pharmacy technician-in-training or pharmacy technician license from the North Dakota board of pharmacy. Failure to obtain ASHP accredited education and National Certification before the board of pharmacy removes the technician in training license will result in termination of position.
South Dakota: Registration required within 30 days from the date of hire. Technicians registered with South Dakota Board of Pharmacy after July 1, 2014 will be registered as a "technician-in-training" and will have two years to complete training education and national certification through the Pharmacy TechnicianCertification Board (PTCB). Failure to obtain National Certification within two years of registering as a "technician-in-training" will result in termination of position. Technicians registered with the South Dakota Board of Pharmacy after July 1, 2011 will be required to obtain National Certification through the Pharmacy TechnicianCertification Board by July 1, 2014. Responsibilities
* Understands and follows standard dilution and preparation procedures for all drugs for all age groups. Uses IV Room Reference Books, Micromedex, and Pediatric dilutions for Antibiotics and Dilutions as defined in NeoFax Reference for ICN drug preparation.
* Prepares Large Volume solutions with additives, IVPB's, syringes, and irrigation solutions using good sterile technique and using equipment in accordance with all regulations and training.
