Member Duties : The Respite Apprentice provides recreation and care for children, youth, and adults with disabilities who attend Respite Camp weekends. Members are responsible for activity programming, encouraging campers to participate in camp activities, ensuring camper safety, and promoting and assisting with personal care. Members receive room and board (housing and meals) during weekends at camp, a living allowance, and an Education Award upon successful completion of the program. AmeriCorps Respite Apprentices Spring are expected to complete the 300 hour requirement and serve a minimum of eight (8) weekend sessions from January 2026- April 2026. Position Overview

Position Overview
The Division of Family and Community Services is seeking to hire a position that functions as a trainee performing investigations relating to fraud and/or abuse of the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance (SNAP) program. After successful completion of the trainee program, to last no longer than 12 months, the trainee will progress to a Public Aid Investigator position.
Essential Functions
Participates in an on-the-job training program designed to provide thorough working knowledge of investigative procedures utilized by senior investigative staff of the agency.
Receives instruction in the successful conduct of thorough field investigations of reported or suspected situations of malfeasance or fraudulent activity involving the eligibility of applicants, clients and former clients, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) trafficking, vendor irregularities, etc.
Receives instruction and personal experience in interviewing and obtaining statements and evidence from neighbors, relatives, employers, and others familiar with the situation under investigation.
Learns to represent the agency in liaison with federal and state prosecutors, as well as law enforcement agencies and local office staff.
Testifies in court proceedings and hearings as to facts and evidence obtained in cases investigated.
Develops and maintains working knowledge of agency policy and procedures, as well as applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree with major coursework in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related fields OR requires an associate degree with major coursework in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field, and four (4) years of experience in investigative work such as detective, administrative, civil or criminal investigations, licensing/certification investigations, worker's compensation investigations, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years of professional experience working with policies, procedures and state and federal laws pertaining to public assistance.
Two (2) years of professional experience working with investigative methods, techniques, and procedures.
Two (2) years of professional experience compiling and summarizing data and preparing records and reports in a clear and concise format.
Two (2) years of professional experience in developing and maintaining collaborative and cooperative working relationship with private and public organizations.
Two (2) years of professional experience working with court procedures, practices, and rules of evidence.
Two (2) years of professional experience applying and interpreting laws and regulations relating to public assistance.
Conditions of Employment

DEFINITION

LTE Engineering Interns may work in one of the following Dane County departments/areas:
Facilities Management:
Assist Dane County Facilities Management in assessing building mechanical conditions and updating building asset inventories. Perform engineering design review for mechanical installations and facility upgrades. Participate in the commissioning process for construction and equipment installation during initial occupancy/equipment start-up phase. Review O&M manuals during the training of operations and maintenance staff, and upload final construction documents and warranty information into the Facilities Management database prior to occupancy/equipment operation phase. Review plans and submittals for code compliance. Perform related duties as assigned.
Highway & Transportation:
Assist Dane County Highway in updating asset inventories and assessing conditions. Complete culvert inspections, access/driveway reviews, and culvert analysis/sizing. May assist the Design Engineers with highway and bridge project scoping and estimating quantities and costs for future construction projects. May also assist construction crews with construction staking so surveying experience is a plus. Must be able to walk long distances, climb over fences and under bridges and into/through large culverts. Able to perform outdoor work and drive in all types of weather conditions 80% of the time. Comfortable working alone along roadsides near live traffic and along sideslopes. Able to perform indoor office and computer work 20% of the time.
Land & Water Resources:
Assist Land & Water Resources staff with survey, design and construction oversight of conservation projects. Conduct topographic surveys using industry standard survey equipment. Design conservation practices following applicable technical standards. Attend pre-construction meetings. Conduct construction oversight of conservation practices during construction. Complete as-built documentation in accordance with standard operating procedures. Perform engineering design review of conservation engineering plans and specifications for compliance with technical standards and ordinance requirements. Conduct watershed and modeling assessments of conservation practices. Perform related duties as assigned.
Public Works:
Write specifications for Request for Bid/Proposal documents. Process Addenda and Change Orders. Estimate project costs. Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors and other Dane County departments. Oversee multiple projects. Attend planning meetings and construction progress meetings. Collaborate with other engineers on projects. Conduct field inspections and construction oversight. Perform engineering design. Review plans and submittals for code compliance. Conduct pre-bid tours. Create punch lists for contractors. Act as liaison for citizens and county personnel. Obtain necessary permits and approvals. Conduct land surveys. Perform related duties as assigned.
Waste + Renewables:
Collect and track operating data to monitor plant performance or landfill compliance. Performs, collects or coordinates landfill gas, water, leachate and other environmental sampling. Prepare reports for environmental, wastewater discharge, operating permits and other applicable permits and licenses. Provide technical engineering support to landfill or plant operations staff. Assist with maintenance of an inventory, tracking, and ordering system for RNG Plant spare parts and consumables. Update as-built documentation, process flow diagrams, drawings, and figures. Attend O&M and other departmental meetings. Writes and updates standard operating procedures, policies and other documents. Writes specifications for Request for Bid/Proposal documents. Process Addenda and Change Orders. Assists with giving tours of the landfill and RNG Plant. Collaborates with engineers on projects and assists with engineering design. Conducts field inspections and construction oversight. Review plans and submittals for code compliance. Perform related duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience:
Must possess a High school diploma, or equivalent and any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to one (1) year in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Biological Systems, Agricultural, or Electrical Engineering, Architectural, Construction Management, Water Resources, or a related field.
Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid driver's license, or access to reliable personal transportation, or equivalent. Also refer to the "Physical and Environmental Work Requirements" section below.
Highway position: Must possess a valid driver's license.
Facilities Management position: Must successfully pass a Wisconsin Health Services and a Sheriff's Office background investigation which includes fingerprinting.

Internship Description
As an intern with St. Croix County, you will have the opportunity to:
Assist with day-to-day tasks and projects.
Conduct research and analyze data to support departmental goals.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
Gain hands-on experience and learn industry best practices.
Receive mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals in the field.
Internship Requirements
Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program or area of study, or recent graduate.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to interpret and implement local policies and procedures, written instructions, general correspondence, and Federal, State, and local statutes and regulations.

* Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more.
