Responsibilities include:
Providing professional design services for transportation improvement projects for the TDOT and local County/City agencies.
Developing design plans including horizontal and vertical alignments, cross sections, typical sections, superelevation data and miscellaneous roadway detail sheets.
Designing to adhere to ADA Standards.
Coordinating design development and providing technical direction and mentorship to the design team.
Coordinating with the design team to achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget, and the development of specifications, cost estimates, reports and preparing final bid packages.
Assisting with the preparation of technical and cost proposals.
Maintaining relationships with client technical staff and project managers.
Attending project meetings with clients, sub-consultants, and the project team.
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree in CivilEngineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license encouraged.
TDOT and municipal client experience is a plus.
Minimum of 5+ years of transportation design experience.
Proficient with MicroStation and Inroads/OpenRoads modeling design software.
OpenRoads Designer experience is a plus.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with AASHTO and local agency design standards is required.
Strong oral and written communication skills.

Summary
The Project Engineer supports field activities and spends a majority of time working with the Project Manager supporting project administration on multiple small projects, or one medium to large-size projects. * Collaborates with pre-construction and the project team to manage the job transition process, communicate project requirements, and develop the initial procurement plans, budgets, etc.
* Generates material quantity take-offs, scoping documents, terms and conditions, delivery, etc. as applicable to support the procurement process
* Generates requests for proposal(s), solicits and reviews quotations, and recommends a procurement decision to Project Manager
* Prepares field purchase orders for standard purchase packages, and generates and obtains approval of Major Purchase Orders
* Gathers and roughs-in monthly financial reports, and participates in the project financial reviews
* Works with the Project Manager to approve and code project invoices
* Generates and obtains approval of technical records such as constructability reports, RFI's, inspection records, work packages and deviation reports
* Coordinates with the Superintendent, Field Project Engineer, and Line and Grade to generate required as-built records
* Manages work package closure, punch lists, and project turnover process and approves pre- and post-pour checklists
* Collects necessary documentation to identify and determine impact of potential contract changes, disputes, and claims
* Leads LEAN/SQP committee and identifies improvement opportunities
* Ensures all subcontractors are in compliance with terms of subcontracts, generates, and obtains approval on impact notices as needed
* Reviews and confirms reports documenting compliance (Company and subcontractors) with prevailing wage, workforce utilization, MBE/SBE participation, etc., and advises the Project Manager of issues
* Interfaces with Safety and Risk Management in establishing clinics, managing first report of injuries, and assisting with co-worker case management
* Follows Company Recruitment and Hiring Guidelines
* May conduct new-hire orientation and process E-Verify (must be certified)
* May coordinate tracking and completion of training requirements with project management
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years' of experience or 6 years' of construction related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
