**Job Summary:**
The Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) is responsible for performing the routine test on blood, tissues, and other body specimens, as well as providing physicians with quality results using a variety of clinical laboratory equipment. The Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) must have a total understanding of patient safety and laboratory techniques necessary to guarantee complete patient safety and anonymity.
**Essential Functions:**
+ Performs analytical tests on biological specimens, in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner in compliance with documented laboratory procedures
+ Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal/ unusual results
+ Recognizes factors that affect measurements and results by taking the appropriate action according to protocols
+ Performs quality control for all testing and meets established ranges before patient results are released
+ Maintains a safe and efficient work environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work area, monitoring temperatures following hospital policies, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment
+ Other duties as assigned
**Education:**
+ Bachelor of Science in one of the following: Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry through a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved program (required)
**Certifications:**
+ MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (required)
**Experience:**
+ Externship program completed (preferred)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Specimen Management: Receive, sort, and label patient specimens for lab processing; check-in and accurately document samples.
Input daily charges for specimens into Epic EMR.
Retrieve lab results from the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and enter them into Epic for clinician review and patient records.

Team Collaboration: Assist the general supervisor and lab techs to ensure smooth day-to-day operations while staying in scope.
Compliance Oversight: Ensure adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, COLA and CLIA guidelines in all administrative and laboratory processes.
Office Procedures: Perform general administrative duties and operate medical office equipment with proficiency.
Quality Assurance: Monitor compliance with internal quality programs, laboratory requirements, and patient result tracking.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Medical Administrative Assistant certification is a plus.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical or healthcare office setting preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The Care Giver/Med Tech role includes providing hands-on care, physical and emotional support to each resident while maintaining a safe and comfortable home-like environment.
Responsibilities:
Care Giver:
Responsible for a designated group of residents during the shift; knows where their residents are and physically checks on them throughout the shift.
Observes, reports and documents symptoms and conditions of residents for changes in condition such as skin, behavior, alertness, weight, dietary and participation in activities.
Responds to security system and resident call bells promptly.
Notifies supervisor and/or Health Care Coordinator if a resident has increased care needs.
Assists with continence management and disposes of all continence products properly to ensure sanitation of resident suite and community restrooms.
Serves and collects food trays and assists as needed; reports refusal of meals or loss of appetite.
Maintains cleanliness of resident's room and work areas.
Practices good standard care precautions of cleanliness, hygiene and health.
Helps residents maintain independence, promotes dignity and physical safety of each resident.
Actively participates/leads and assists residents with activities of daily living (i.e. bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, eating) as instructed.
Engages residents in life skills and other life enrichment activities.

Medication Tech duties:
Reviews service plan to learn pertinent information about residents.
Assists/observes medications and treatments for each resident using the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
Documents and initials form as medications are given including appropriate documentation for refusal or missed doses.
Maintains confidentiality of all resident information including resident medication.
Reports all resident concerns made while assisting resident with the medication to the Nurse and/or Health Care Coordinator (HCC).
Restocks medication cart after all medication passes.
Assists in checking medication regardless of packaging system.
Counts all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
Maintains and cleans the Medication Room, med charts, treatment carts for neatness cleanliness, availability of medications and expired medications.
Follows re-fill process for medications.
Participates in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates.
Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse and respiration rates.
Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks and hazardous chemicals immediately.
Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Certified Nurse's Aid certification preferred.
High School diploma/GED
Must be 18 years of age.

Ability to read measuring instruments and record data correctly, both hand-written and on a computer.
Proper hands/fingers mobility necessary to work with yarns, knobs, controls, and buttons.
Ability to lift weights of approximately 25 lb. consistently to a height of 6 feet using assistance of steps, stool, or ladder. Ability to lift heavier weight as needed. May lift up to 100 lb. with assistance.
Ability to work in tight spaces, on platforms, and remain in awkward positions when performing set- up or certain tasks. Must reach, twist, bend, push, pull, stoop.
Ability to hear emergency warnings and to move manufacturing equipment for safety purposes.
Ability to lead and influence others. Ability to understand business needs and communicate necessary actions, effectively leading others.
Willingness to learn new things.
Must be self-motivated.
Must be able to climb to and work from heights up to 15 feet tall.
To be available to be trained as Internal auditor for ISO 9001 (or any other certification) and to perform internal audits.
Analyze data and report any findings related to product quality.
Report any non-conforming product.
Work independently in a lab environment
