Join our dynamic laboratory team as a Medical Technologist, where you will play a crucial role in patient care by preparing and testing patient samples. Your expertise will ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results using advanced techniques and equipment.
Responsibilities
Prepare patient samples for testing and determine the acceptability of specimens and results.
Repeat specimen testing as necessary to ensure accuracy.
Perform Hematology, Chemistry, and Urinalysis testing.
Conduct laboratory tests and procedures using techniques such as ELISA, RNA extraction, and flow cytometry.
Execute a variety of manual, semi-automated, and automated Biochemical, Hematological, Microbiological, and/or Blood Bank analyses on varied patient specimens.
Maintain, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Accurately prepare, label, and store reagents, standards, controls, and specimens for analysis.
Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
Recognize normal, abnormal, unusual, and critical results and take appropriate action as established by laboratory policy.
Verify accuracy of results and initiate corrective action when indicated.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or other related science.
Certification in Medical Technology, Medical Lab Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science from recognized certifying bodies.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Blood bank experience is required.
Experience working in a hospital or clinical laboratory.
Ability to interpret test results and apply them to patient care.
Proficiency in one of the following areas: hematology, clinical chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, or microscopy.
Certified Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS). Certification must be from ASCP, NCA, AMT, or AAB.

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $38.00/hr.

Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures

ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
Florida Medical Technologist license is required

Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

· Laboratory training including the completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by ABHES, NAACLS, or other organization by HHS, or have at least 3-months documented training in each specialty in which they have performed high complexity testing.
· Working knowledge of CAP and CLIA regulations and CLSI procedure formats applicable to an accredited clinical lab.
· Individual must meet minimum CLIA requirements for High Complexity Testing Personnel.
· Major lab instrument familiarity (Beckman Coulter, Abbott, Siemens), a plus.

Clinical laboratory scientist job in Homestead, FL
Lab Technicians are responsible for various tasks throughout the day, simultaneously and in series. It is important that lab technicians have a good multi-tasking ability. This position is responsible for assisting with lab production, which includes but is not limited to: distillation, extraction, winterization and production of cannabis infused products. Our ideal candidate for this role is familiar with standard laboratory practices and has previously worked in production laboratory environments. A strong understanding of chemistry and biology is a plus and will help during daily tasks. In The Flowery solvent lab, we use ethanol and hydrocarbon extraction. Several days of training are required before operating equipment, and techs are responsible for reading and understanding all manuals, SOPs and other training materials provided.
Responsibilities
Prepare laboratory equipment and cannabis plant materials for extraction
Operate intricate extraction equipment in accordance with The Flowery SOPs
Process cannabis concentrates and extracts
Accomplish production goals, while focused on safety and quality
Produce product per recipes and SOP's, maintaining high quality standards
Clean and maintain extraction equipment and laboratory facility
Properly store supplies and equipment
Dispose of waste according to guidelines
Keep laboratory working areas sanitary and safe
Wash and sterilize laboratory glassware
Employees may also be responsible for monitoring production lines and collecting samples for analysis.
Follow SOP and standard analytical procedures to meet Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices compliance
Record data in lab notebooks, computer databases, and test reports
Qualifications
Prior production laboratory or manufacturing experience preferred
Prior experience working in regulated environments preferred
Prior extraction experience desirable, prior cannabis extraction experience highly desirable
Basic math skills
Familiarity with OSHA guidelines for dealing with hazardous chemicals
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees

Position Overview
The Lab Coordinator assists with the day-to-day operations of site including maintenance, security and continuous improvement of the Lab to ensure efficient and effective functioning. The position coordinates and maintains inventory of equipment and supplies, manages records, and provides support to students and faculty. The Lab Coordinator ensures that the lab is operating efficiently and that resources are utilized in accordance with the College policies and procedures.
This grant position will be eligible for participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) after 6 consecutive months of continuous employment.
This is a temporary grant funded position.
What you will be doing
* Supports the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the lab
* Assists with the development of curriculum that accurately reflects content, goals and objectives of program
* Ensures that students receive personalized support by directly engaging with them during workshops, information sessions, and on-on-one meetings
* Ensures a proper schedule of lab sessions and provides notification of changes of schedules or class cancelation to staff, faculty and students
* Coordinates initiatives designed to promote programs
* Assists with reporting any accidents or incidents at the Lab using the College's established guidelines and reporting procedures
* Monitors student attendance and performance evaluations and reports any problems to program administration
* Coordinates the acquisition of necessary lab materials and supplies while scheduling and performing routine maintenance on all laboratory machinery and equipment
* Maintains an organized and detailed inventory of lab tools, materials, and resources
* Collaborates with sales representatives, vendors, and industry professionals
* Maintains budget reports and assures receipt of ordered supplies and equipment
* Conducts research and provides guidance on lab equipment selection
* Ensures compliance with safety protocols in the use of machinery and equipment
* Establishes and ensures adherence to the lab guidelines
* Maintains detailed logs of lab access and utilization by faculty and student members
* Keeps abreast of new technological developments to help improve productivity and support faculty with the integration of technology into classroom instruction
* Performs other duties as assigned

* Master's degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution; or Bachelor's degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) years of related work experience.
* All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
* Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
* Strong organizational and time management skills
* Ability to troubleshoot equipment and materials issues
* Problem-solving skills for managing safety or operational challenges
