Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Cath Lab Tech for a 13-week travel assignment in Cedar Park, Texas. Required Qualifications:
One year's recent experience as a Cardiac Cath Lab Tech
Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
ARRT, RCES, or RCIS certification
Current ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid Radiologic Technologist license in compliance within state regulations
PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC Certifications
Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
Summary:
The Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. This role involves preparing patients and equipment, monitoring hemodynamic data, assisting physicians during procedures, and ensuring patient safety throughout the process. The technologist operates specialized imaging equipment, maintains sterile technique, and collaborates with the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care. This position requires technical expertise in cardiovascular procedures, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations.
Essential Work Functions:
Prepare and position patients for cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiology studies, and other interventional procedures
Assist physicians during procedures by passing catheters, wires, balloons, and stents, and operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
Operate and maintain imaging equipment, contrast injectors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems, ensuring proper functionality
Scrub in and assist with sterile field setup, ensuring adherence to infection control and procedural protocols
Perform sheath removal and hemostasis using manual compression or closure devices as directed
Maintain accurate documentation, including patient records, imaging data, and equipment logs
Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments and medications
Adhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring proper use of lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

POSITION INFORMATION:
Certified Medical Laboratory Technicians/Clinical Laboratory Technicians (MLT/CLT) will provide diagnostic testing services to The Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System in Temple, Texas.
Must possess comprehensive knowledge of professional Medical Laboratory Technician principles, practices, concepts, and theories providing for sound independent work.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory Technician (MLT/CLT):
Technician must have a 2-year Associates in Applied Science Degree
Technician must have a minimum of two (2) years of laboratory experience
Technician must be American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or American Medical Technologists (AMT) certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory Technician.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Is expected to use independent technical judgment to analyze and interpret laboratory results
Will perform, evaluate, interpret, correlate, and validate the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results
Requires a broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision
Will be required to monitor quality control systems and measures

Troubleshoot issues with laboratory instruments and resolve problems. Diagnose deviations in test performance due to instrument malfunction
Perform and document quality control and quality assurance activities and corrective actions related to test performance using statistical principles and theories of performance improvement
Identify discrepancies, solve problems, and present solutions
Answer inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity, test sensitivity, and specific factors that influence test results. Interpret results and suggest follow-up test selection or procedures

PURPOSE

Responsible for accurately and timely completing documentation using both Electronic Medical Record and any required paper documentation while ensuring patient confidentiality.
Ensures that blood/body fluids, biohazard materials, needle containers and potentially infectious waste are appropriately disposed of, according to infection control guidelines.
Monitors expiration dates and takes action accordingly. Recognizes usage trends affecting unit supplies and makes recommendations for adjustments.
Participates in staff meetings and workgroups by providing constructive input for practice improvements and solutions.
Other duties as assigned.
It'll help to have/be:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work with an Electronic Health Record and other related E-Systems.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Prior anatomic pathology laboratory preferred, but not required.
Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks, following through to completion.
Identifies self-learning needs related to job description and seeks out appropriate resources to meet learning needs.
Maintains regular, reliable and on-site attendance as scheduled by your supervisor.
Maintains positive relationships with patients/families, peers, vendors and other team members.
Qualifications/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Preferred but not required, Prior anatomic pathology laboratory.
Preferred but not required, An associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of training and education. Ideally 60 semester credit hours from an accredited institution that include the following:
6 semester credit hours of chemistry
6 semester credit hours of biology
12 semester credit hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
Medical office, procedure/exam room and laboratory environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, biohazards or toxic substances. Daily activities may include standing, walking, sitting, bending and lifting items up to 30 lbs.

Our location in Waco, TX is currently looking to hire full-time, entry-level Microbiology Technicians. (40 hours/week plus benefits included)

Required Skills/Abilities:

Physical dexterity is required for manipulating samples.
