You will provide technical quality testing for neonates, pediatrics, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in the laboratory setting in compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, AABB, FDA, and CLIA standards
Your thorough understanding and application of the MT practice is essential due to the intense field of critical patient testing. Therefore, you must continuously strive to improve clinical testing through formal and informal education
You will maintain knowledge of all procedures and protocols
You will perform required quality control and function verification of equipment
Qualifications you will need for this role:
ASCP or AMT are required within 6 months of hire. ASCP is the preferred certification. Continued employment will be based on valid certification
Associate degree in related science required. Bachelors degree in related science preferred.
A college graduate or equivalent who has passed a certification examination for Medical Technologist by ASCP or AMT or has completed an accredited MLT program with ASCP Board Certification is also accepted.
Experience in a hospital laboratory is desired but not necessary.

Job Description
Location: Iraq
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible to provide comprehensive health services to DOS, DOD, and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. The MLT performs lab tests and procedures, mostly comprising of microscopic, bacteriological, hematologic, immunologic, and chemical diagnostic analyses on samples of tissue, blood, urine, stool, synovial fluid and semen. The MLT looks for clues to the absence, presence, and extent of the causes and progression of diseases through accurate and efficient lab tests.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect and process biological specimens for laboratory testing.
Conduct routine and specialized tests in hematology, microbiology, chemistry, and blood bank.
Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues.
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean laboratory environment.
Record and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
Collaborate with pathologists and other medical staff to interpret results and ensure quality patient care.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
Minimum of 3 years recent experience as Medical Laboratory Technician including 6 months within the last year.
Certified as a medical laboratory technician through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCALP) or the Board of Registry of the American Association of Bioanalysis (AAB).
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.
Education Required:
Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology or related field.
Physical Requirements:
Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements.
Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods.
May require bending, stooping, and lifting to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
Valid US Passport with at least 18 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, specifically an MRPT. Applicants with current clearances are preferred.

Job Summary:
A position as an Intermediate Laboratory Sciences Professional is available within the Sagerstrom research laboratory in the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Developmental Biology, at the University of Colorado Denver-Anschutz Medical Campus. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position that will utilize molecular, biochemical, genetic, imaging, and bioinformatic/computational approaches in a wet-lab setting.
The Sagerstrom lab studies the formation of neurons in the developing nervous system. As a Intermediate Laboratory Sciences Professional in our lab, you will work closely with graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to support their projects. The work is highly flexible and variable and includes standard molecular biology techniques (PCR, subcloning, gel electrophoresis), microscopy (fluorescence and confocal microscopy), basic computational/bioinformatic, and animal behavioral analyses. Commensurate with increased expertise, you will be given the opportunity to work more independently on projects using state-of-the-art methods such as sc RNAseq and sc Multiome analyses.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions
Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects
Independently perform experiments and tabulate, and analyze research
Support analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting, and communicating results
Independently perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical test process and evaluate the results produced
Independently prepare the lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas
Provide animal care related to research studies, as necessary
Pick up, transport, and maintain results, samples, documents, materials, and other items as needed
Dispose of laboratory materials and samples using well-established guidelines and instructions
Review, complete, and process logs, documents, databases, and related materials and information
Independently research issues and develop recommendations to resolve process issues
Assist in the review and implementation of lab support policies, practices, and programs to meet organizational, operational, and management needs
Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; receive guidance and direction or escalate when required

Our investigations focus on several major tissue and organ systems, including the brain, heart, intestines, face, vascular, olfactory, and immune systems. Our work is leading to a better understanding of childhood disabilities associated with neuropsychiatric disease, Down syndrome, the congenital basis of cardiovascular and facial malformations, and the impact of maternal health on fetal development.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a degree in biology, genetics, biochemistry, neuroscience, or a related field
One (1) year of professional experience as a research technician, laboratory assistant, or equivalent, in a wet lab setting.
