Axia's full-service, state-of-the-art laboratory performs anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and molecular (DNA-based) testing. The Cytotechnologist provides professional services, including interpretation of Pap tests, slide preparations, proficiency testing, quality control and other functions and is a key member of our laboratory team, helping Axia to provide a full-scope of services to Axia Women's Health patients.

Interprets physician notes and obtains clarification when information is missing or contradictive.
Receives, accesses, or rejects specimens by following standard operating procedures (SOP's).
Determines specimen adequacy for all cytology and histology samples.
Processes specimens and evaluates control slides to ensure proper staining patterns. Follows the College of American Pathologist (CAP) requirements for performing proficiency testing and reporting results, and completes all procedures expected in the scheduled time without loss of work quality.
Grosses, processes, embeds, cuts, stains, special stains, IHC, recuts, and coverslips all cytological and surgical specimens received into the anatomic pathology laboratory.
Examines and evaluates cell samples for normal cell patterns, non-malignant, or benign conditions that might exist, such as microorganisms, therapeutic change inflammation, repair and hyperplastic changes, and determines severity and cell type of abnormalities, and, if needed, provides criteria to identify origin and makes appropriate recommendations on report.
Reviews cases at the microscope and discusses diagnostic criteria with pathologists, senior cytotechnologists, or other cytotechnologists as needed.
Performs data entry of case information into the appropriate computer system, ensuring that all identifying information is accurate and in the appropriate format; uses recognized terminology to document and transmit diagnosis/findings in the laboratory information system.
Documents daily, weekly, and monthly workloads, and performs and documents daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance.
Validate equipment, detection kits, antibody lots, blockers, inhibitors, control tissue and new antibodies before use on any specimen.
Checks and monitors pH of solutions, temperatures, and room humidity on a regular basis by documenting the value for each on the proper chart/log.
Prepare stock reagents for use on manual and automated processes.
Performs calibration of equipment as required.
Participates in laboratory quality management functions.

Current BLS certification. ACLS certification preferred.

Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Lab program or Science related program is required.
Minimum of 6 months experience required. Experience can include clinical practicum time as a student.
Nationally/Internationally recognized certification as a Medical Technologist or equivalent (ASCP, AAB or AMT) is required.

Perform culture set-up, Gram stain preparation and interpretation, incubation, and examination to accurately and appropriate apply clinical and technical judgement.
Conduct bacterial identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing from appropriate specimen types, ensuring accurate interpretation of clinical significance (normal flora vs pathogens) and compliance with quality and safety standards.

Orders, accessions, statuses, and reports the results of tests performed on patient specimens, monitoring a variety of critical clinical issues, such as patient identifiers, specimen quality, order appropriateness, etc. In this function, must be able to read and understand a variety of written material such as specimen requisitions, worksheets, patient identification, specimen requirements, etc., whether performing this task manually (e.g., on paper) or using an information system. Must be able to check and verify information such as patient identification, lot numbers, expiration dates, etc., and act appropriately. Monitors pending logs regularly to provide rapid turnaround time.
Operates, calibrates, and performs troubleshooting and maintenance on laboratory equipment following established procedures, and as assigned by supervisor. Reviews technical and administrative procedures, as assigned. Responsible for staying informed about section changes, procedure changes and updates, etc. Reviews questions about procedures with section supervisor or designee as needed, informing supervisor when confusion about instructions or procedures exists.
Handles supply and inventory issues as required/assigned, identifying key technical parameters, such as lot numbers, storage requirements, etc. as required for performance of laboratory procedures. The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible to provide comprehensive health services to DOS, DOD, and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. Required Qualifications:
One year's recent experience as a Cardiac Cath Lab Tech
Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
ARRT, RCES, or RCIS certification
Current ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid Radiologic Technologist license in compliance within state regulations
PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC Certifications
Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
Summary:
The Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. This role involves preparing patients and equipment, monitoring hemodynamic data, assisting physicians during procedures, and ensuring patient safety throughout the process. The technologist operates specialized imaging equipment, maintains sterile technique, and collaborates with the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care. This position requires technical expertise in cardiovascular procedures, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations.
Essential Work Functions:
Prepare and position patients for cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiology studies, and other interventional procedures
Assist physicians during procedures by passing catheters, wires, balloons, and stents, and operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
Operate and maintain imaging equipment, contrast injectors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems, ensuring proper functionality
Scrub in and assist with sterile field setup, ensuring adherence to infection control and procedural protocols
Perform sheath removal and hemostasis using manual compression or closure devices as directed
Maintain accurate documentation, including patient records, imaging data, and equipment logs
Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments and medications
Adhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring proper use of lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
Required Essential Skills:
