Position Overview
The Molecular Technologist will be responsible for all phases of molecular diagnostic testing-including pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes-with a primary focus on PCR-based assays. This individual will perform testing according to established standard operating procedures, ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate incoming specimens and organize workflow to ensure optimal testing efficiency and turnaround time.
Operate advanced molecular diagnostic instrumentation for automated extraction and amplification of nucleic acids.
Perform and interpret molecular assays such as nucleic acid extraction, PCR, and qRT-PCR.
Assess results to identify potential issues such as inhibition, interference, or other assay-related challenges.
Conduct quality control, validation, and verification activities to ensure assay performance and compliance.
Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments as needed.
Adhere to strict contamination prevention protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Record and monitor laboratory and equipment temperatures and maintain accurate documentation of results.
Manage inventory of supplies and reagents; communicate order needs proactively.
Operate laboratory information systems (LIS) and associated software programs.
Participate in proficiency testing, SOP development, and ongoing competency assessments.
Follow all laboratory policies and procedures, including attendance and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
Completion of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program may be considered with appropriate ASCP certification.
Certification:
ASCP certification as a Molecular Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) required.
Skills and Experience:
Hands-on experience with PCR and molecular diagnostic techniques.
Strong pipetting, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience with automated laboratory instrumentation and LIMS systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
Prior experience in a molecular diagnostics laboratory preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: $25 - $35 per hour, commensurate with experience and certification level.

Job Responsibilities
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
Assist with processing of specimens when needed
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Requirements:
Associate's degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Associate's degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is highly preferred
ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills

What You Will Be Responsible For
A Components Lab Technician is responsible for the safe handling and processing of blood and blood components with consistency and precision. The selected candidate will be working in a highly regulated environment to prepare components intended for transfusion.

What You Will Be Responsible For
A Components Lab Technician is responsible for the safe handling and processing of blood and blood components with consistency and precision. The selected candidate will be working in a highly regulated environment to prepare components intended for transfusion.

* Perform the lab audit process which includes the quarantine, release and disposal of blood products based on disease testing results
