In This Role: You will be using automated analyzers, microscopes and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment. You will be performing diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal or pet biopsy samples that we receive in our lab by the thousands, every day. You will be responsible for setting up and running lab tests and reading and releasing results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). You can expect to specialize in one or more of the following areas: Hematology: Testing cell-related components of blood samples to enumerate and identify their cellular components, including the microscopic evaluation of blood smears and the use of automated and manual counting techniques. Chemistry / Endocrinology: Testing blood and body fluids for various analytes, utilizing automated instrumentation. Urinalysis: Analysis and evaluation of chemical and microscopic components of urine samples, using automated instrumentation and manual techniques. Cytology: Processing blood and body fluids for microscopic examination by pathologists. Includes slide preparation and staining, utilizing manual and automated counting techniques. Immunology / Serology: Testing blood and other samples for the presence of viral and bacterial disease by detecting antibodies (AB) or antigens (AG). What You'll Need to Succeed: You possess a High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A year degree in a Science-related field is preferred. It is not required to work in our lab, but if you were a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT), this experience and education would be a plus. Ideally, you will have experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and / or clinical diagnostic analyzers). Summary / Objective We are a private practice Optometry office with several locations throughout southern and central Maine looking to grow our team! We need technicians to assist our optometrists in providing excellent patient care in a fast-paced clinic. We are a very medically oriented office with extensive specialty testing for eye disease but also see routine exams for contact lenses and glasses as well as eye emergencies. The Optometric Medical Technician helps the Optometrist with eye examinations, performs admin duties, and maintains and cleans the examination equipment. To be a successful Optometric Medical Technician, you should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. You should also be detail-oriented and meticulous, with a keen interest in maintaining ocular equipment. Essential Functions Assisting with patient care and eye examinations Explaining the testing process to patients, preparing them, and administering tests on visual capabilities Taking patient histories, and accurately entering information into the medical record Keeping records and inventory, and taking notes during examinations Assisting patients on the insertion and removal of contact lenses as well as educating patients on the care and maintenance of lenses Maintaining a clean environment for the patient Performing minor maintenance and repairs on examination equipment Optometric Technician Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent. Optometry Office experience preferred, not required An Optometric Technician Certification is preferred, not required, and we will help you obtain certification! Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Self-motivation, and ability to work under pressure. Ability to manage time and multiple tasks effectively. Maintains and demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights under HIPAA guidelines. Maintains regular in-person attendance

    The Community Services Director is seeking a responsible individual to perform a variety of responsible technical and analytical duties for the Water Treatment Facility. This position is responsible for conducting all water quality testing, analysis, and reporting to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Work is conducted in a laboratory setting with a focus on accuracy, precision, and adherence to established protocols. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week, non-exempt position. $26.26 to $38.03 per hour. Excellent benefit offerings! Position is open until filled. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. The listed examples may not include all duties found in this class): Conducts frequent physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses on water samples from treatment plants, wells, recharge sources, and the distribution system. a. Performs routine and special sampling (PFAS, MTBE, 1,4-D, UCMR5). b. Assists other departments with bacteria or special sampling as needed. Maintains an accurate filing system of digital and hardcopy records of test results, sampling data, water quality complaints, and laboratory activities. Stays current on laboratory methods and safety practices. Participates in on-call rotation for SCADA monitoring and performs WTP checks on weekends and holidays. May be required to repair various WTP issues off hours Assists or leads Lead Service Line Inventory (LSLI) and Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) sampling and reporting to the state and residents. Assists in gathering of data for requests from various agencies, such as: hydro-geologist, engineers, DES, EPA Assists with obtaining quotes and purchase requests for lab services, calibrations, and equipment repairs. Responds to water quality inquiries and complaints from residents and other departments. a. Develops SOPs for common water quality concerns. b. Tracks water quality issues using the Vue-Works layer. Uses computer systems, spreadsheets, and databases to manage and analyze data. Develops/assists in creation of database tracking program monitoring water quality results. Provides general support such as answering calls, assisting customers, and scheduling appointments or meetings. Maintains effective working relationships with coworkers, public, labs, and reporting agencies. Performs other related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Thorough knowledge of water quality testing procedures and protocols, including physical, chemical, and microbiological analysis. Strong understanding of Federal and State drinking water regulations. Proficiency in the use and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment. Ability to maintain meticulous and accurate records and reports. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with staff and regulatory agencies. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent and at least 12 semester units in chemistry or related field at a college or university required ; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or a related field is preferred. At least two (2) years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in water quality analysis, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Grade I Water Works Operator Certification is required within the first 6 months of hire.
