General Functions:
Processes and tests blood and other body fluid specimens for the clinical laboratory
Reviews test results and applies the correct clinical interpretation of that data

Oversees assigned laboratory section(s).

Will work in multiple departments/sections or multiple facilities within a market, as requested.

SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Medical Directors and management staff, provides state of the art laboratory specimen testing, including phlebotomy, from neonates to geriatric patients ensuring patient safety. Performs advanced responsibilities as required. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489. Personnel who, prior to 2/28/92 have qualified at the Medical Technologist level by achieving a satisfactory grade on a HHS examination. The above meets required criteria as defined by CLIA regulations for High Complexity testing (42 CFR 493.1489, Jan. 24, 2003).
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3 years as a medical technologist in acute care facility with demonstration of increasing responsibilities
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Registered with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or CSMLS within 12 months of hire). Equivalency evaluation by ECE, NACES or AICE for non-US trained personnel must be completed within 30 days of hire. Licensure, as required by State. Once certified, no annual renewals are required.

Ideally, you will have experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers).

General Functions:
Processes and tests blood and other body fluid specimens for the clinical laboratory
Reviews test results and applies the correct clinical interpretation of that data
Reports lab results accurately and responsively, to include use of a laboratory information system
Performs operation, maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment
Performs venous and capillary phlebotomy and ensures specimen integrity as necessary.
Performs basic clerical functions
Writes procedures and assist in the development of department policies
Provides direction to other laboratory staff that may include the Medical Technicians, Medical Lab Scientist I and II, Phlebotomists and other laboratory personnel
Advanced responsibilities include, but not limited to, equipment validation and implementation; employee training and competency assessment; achieving ongoing regulatory compliance, responsibilities for CAP, TCJ, AABB or other accrediting agencies, point of care testing, quality assurance, quality control and instrument maintenance.
Oversees assigned laboratory section(s).
Provides input on staff evaluations as requested.
Maintains complete and up to date procedure manuals.
Will work in multiple departments/sections or multiple facilities within a market, as requested.
Will serve as point of care coordinator for non-laboratory tests, as requested
Assists with R&D projects as required
Trains employees and students
Relays orders, take inventory and stocks supplies
Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
Maintains safe environment
Addresses patient population-specific needs
Participates in Performance Improvement activities

SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Medical Directors and management staff, provides state of the art laboratory specimen testing, including phlebotomy, from neonates to geriatric patients ensuring patient safety. Performs advanced responsibilities as required. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489. Personnel who, prior to 2/28/92 have qualified at the Medical Technologist level by achieving a satisfactory grade on a HHS examination. The above meets required criteria as defined by CLIA regulations for High Complexity testing (42 CFR 493.1489, Jan. 24, 2003).
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3 years as a medical technologist in acute care facility with demonstration of increasing responsibilities
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Registered with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or CSMLS within 12 months of hire). Equivalency evaluation by ECE, NACES or AICE for non-US trained personnel must be completed within 30 days of hire. Licensure, as required by State. Once certified, no annual renewals are required.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
The main function of a lab technician is to perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.
A typical lab technician may work under the supervision of a medical technologist.
Job Responsibilities: Set up, adjust, maintain and clean medical laboratory equipment. Analyze the results of tests and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using special mechanical and electrical devices.
Analyze, gather and record test data to issue reports that use charts, graphs and narratives. Obtain specimens, cultivating, isolating and identifying microorganisms for analysis.
May examine cells stained with dye to locate abnormalities.
Consult with a pathologist to determine a final diagnosis when abnormal cells are found.
May conduct chemical analyses of body fluids, such as blood and urine, using microscope or automatic analyzer to detect abnormalities or diseases, and enter findings into computer.
