Gain competence on line circuits and ensure proper hookups are made in the facility. Cover breaks, lunches, and other staffing needs as assigned. Ensure compliance with legal requirements concerning dairy processing and safety during assigned shifts and report concerns to supervisors. Work in a safe manner, report safety concerns, and take corrective actions as necessary. Report food safety problems and support SQF by maintaining food safety and quality. Ensure work areas are sanitary and adhere strictly to sanitation practices. Communicate effectively between shifts and departments. Conduct and evaluate product testing results for compliance with standards. Release compliant products from hold in the computerized inventory management system. Inspect and verify the sanitary condition of processing lines and overall areas. Validate vitamin additions and batching sheets for processing departments. Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment. Communicate openly with the Quality Control Team and plant personnel. Conduct microbiological, chemical, and sensory testing as required. Maintain laboratory logbooks and the Hold/Disposition Log. Complete and report product testing using the Product Testing Record. Work Environment The Laboratory Technician position requires availability for morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts any day of the week based on assigned schedules. The role adheres to a 2-2-3 schedule, with shifts typically running from 10pm to 8:30am, 2pm to 12:30am, or 6am to 4:30pm. The work environment includes compliance with GMP dress code standards, ensuring a business-appropriate attire at all times. Research will use mice to model neuronal development. These experiments will entail the creation, validation, and running of behavioral experiments on pre-adolescent, adolescent, and adult animals. The Lab Assistant will also have the opportunity to use novel imaging techniques to probe changes in neuronal processing as mice grow from adolescents into adults. Additionally, Lab Assistants will have the opportunity to get involved in the data analysis of behavioral and calcium imaging data. Collect samples from various production stages including incoming raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods following proper sampling protocols and chain of custody procedures while maintaining sample integrity and traceability throughout the testing process. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as incubators, autoclaves, microscopes, and chromatography systems while performing routine calibrations, quality control checks, and preventive maintenance to ensure accurate and reliable test results. Document all test results, observations, and non-conformances in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and prepare detailed reports for quality assurance teams, regulatory agencies, and production management while maintaining compliance with FDA and USDA documentation requirements. Investigate product quality issues and customer complaints by conducting root cause analysis, performing additional testing protocols, and collaborating with production teams to identify corrective actions while ensuring all testing procedures follow established standard operating procedures and Good Laboratory Practices. Min. Qualifications Minimum of GED or High School Diploma is required. Associates degree in dairy/food sciences or equivalent highly preferred 1-2 years' experience in similar food industry lab setting highly preferred.
