Role Overview
As an Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, you will:
• Lead the pharmacologic oversight of clinical trial protocols, particularly Phase I Oncology studies
• Evaluate and monitor oncology treatment plans, ensuring evidence-based medication use
• Serve as a resource on pharmacokinetics, interactions, and supportive care in hematologic and solid tumor trials
• Collaborate with oncologists, nurses, and research staff to optimize investigational and standard-of-care drug therapy
• Precept pharmacy students and participate in pharmacy residency training
• Contribute to formulary decisions, MUEs, and protocol development
• Serve on tumor boards, P&T committees, and quality initiatives
• Address drug shortages, develop alternatives, and lead safety reviews
Qualifications
Required:
• PharmD from an ACPE-accredited institution
• NJPharmacist License (active or eligible)
• Completion of PGY1 Residency
• 3+ years of oncology pharmacy experience OR PGY2 in Oncology
• Experience with investigational drug protocols and clinical trials
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Preferred:
• Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP)
• Familiarity with OnCore CTMS or equivalent platforms

Responsibilities
The Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist / Clinical Trials Pharmacist oversees drug usage and ensures drug therapy optimization in all areas of medication management for clinical trials.
Educates healthcare professionals and patients regarding medication use as well as serving as a preceptor to Pharmacy students.
Oversees the pharmacological management of phase 1 patients and patients in the cancer program
Evaluates the appropriateness and effectiveness of medications, with an emphasis on Oncology treatment plans.
Collaborates with physicians and other health care providers in selecting the medication therapy that best meets the patient's needs and contributes effectively to the overall therapy goals.
Applies specialized knowledge of the scientific and clinical use of medications; including medication action, dosing, adverse effects, and drug interactions.
Plays an active role in the development and implementation of protocols and appropriate drug utilization.
Staff education: Provide education to healthcare team including pharmacists, nurses, physicians and students through in-services, presentations, lectures, clinical pearl memos and competencies.
Perform Medication Use Evaluations (MUEs) and formulary reviews.
Educate healthcare team on new formulary medications, updated policies and procedures, medication safety initiatives and drug shortages.
Interdisciplinary relationships: Strives to develop a good rapport with the medical and nursing staff in addition to other multidisciplinary departments by actively seeking out opportunities to improve patient care and medication management.
The practitioner routinely attends assigned meetings, understands the goals and strategy of the meeting, and actively participates in achieving those goals.
Responds to immediate medication needs/questions from pharmacy, nursing, physicians and patients in a timely and accurate manner. Develops alternative strategies for drug shortages.
Student precepting: Provides practical experience and training to a pharmacy student including patient care rounds, topic discussions, seminar presentations, patient case presentations and journal clubs, etc.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Job Description
The Per Diem Pharmacist of the dispensary is a registered Pharmacist who is responsible for providing an outstanding patient experience while maximizing revenue goals, assisting the General Manager in leading the development of the dispensary staff, and ensuring compliance with all inventory, security, and system protocols. This sales-oriented individual should be passionate about the benefits of medical cannabis and making a difference in our patients' lives.
Duties and responsibilities:
Retail Operations
Drive retail sales and patient retention
Maintain all store operational standards
Oversee inventory standards are maintained on-site.
Operate POS and corresponding systems
Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures and federal and state laws
Maintains a safe, clean environment for patients and employees
Maintain patient confidentiality
Patient Care:
Develop high customer experience standards and engagement through sales training and product knowledge.
Assist patients with their questions, problems, and complaints
Handle all patient-related issues in accordance with company policy
Promote a positive experience for all patients
Direct and oversee in coordination with the General Manager all patient interactions and provide clinical oversight
Coordinate with practitioners to facilitate positive patient outcomes
Promote PharmaCann customer service culture
Develop a deep understanding of cannabis forms, dosing, drug interactions, and side effects
Understand the efficacy of variance strains, potencies, and methods of delivery
Understand and recommend dosing based upon patient conditions
Follow all processes to ensure accurate and safety protocols and SOPs are maintained as part of the quality assurance program
Ensure on-the-job safety of all employees and treatment for employee injuries sustained on the job
Supervise and coordinate delivery operations and provide clinical oversight
Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community
Qualifications
Current Pharmacist license in good standing
Flexible availability
Successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) background check
3 years of multi-unit retail or similar operation experience
Required state/local licenses/permits/certifications for work being performed
Exceptional people skills
Organizational skills
Flexible to fill in for scheduled vacations, and unscheduled shifts
Passionate about, and willingness to become knowledgeable about medical marijuana

Ensure compliance with study-specific blinding plans.
Provide consultative support regarding the preparation and dosing of drugs.
Maintain documentation of IP accountability: receipt, dispensing, return to sponsor/destruction.
Interpret clinic schedule and protocol into a resource that can be used to identify the date/time to compound/prepare and dispense IP for clinical trials.
Understand and apply all applicable site procedures.
Ensure receipt and proper storage of IP and bioretention samples.
Manage inventory, ensuring that expired items are removed from the inventory prior to expiration, and purchasing, and delivery processes for the pharmacy.
Review protocols and provide input on clinical and pharmacy supply needs.
Meet with sponsors, monitors, auditors, and regulatory authorities to review drug accountability and other study-specific information.
