DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Maintains the confidentiality of patients/customers, staff, and their personal information at all times. * Ensures the pharmacy's and employee's compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations. * Ensures compliance with accepted professional standards of practice and industry standards of care. * Supervises pharmacy staff, technicians, and pharmacy interns. * Assists with the recruiting, hiring, orienting, and training of new pharmacy staff activities. * Assess staffing needs and levels. * Assists with orientation, competence assessments, and performance evaluations for all pharmacy employees. * Ensures that processes are maintained for the safe dispensing of medication, products, and supplies, including obtaining a complete medication profile. * Participates in the creation, development, and revision of policies and procedures and other organizational guidelines. * Controls costs and inventory. * Performs all pharmacist functions, job duties, and responsibilities as well. * Participates in performance improvement efforts and teams to ensure improvement in systems and processes is ongoing. EXPERIENCE * At least two years' experience in specialty pharmacy * At least one year of experience in infusion, home infusion, and retail pharmacy * Experience with medication counseling, drug and medical supply procurement, inventory control, risk management, quality assurance, and third-party reimbursement * Confidently coaches, supervises, and directs personnel to grow in their position and job knowledge. * Current working knowledge of accreditation agency requirements and applicable standards * Excellent problem-solving, communication, public relations, and patient care skills. * Diplomatic when interacting with referral sources, patients/customers, family members, employees, payers, and other health care professionals. * Good aseptic technique if compounding medications. * Attendance at mandatory educational programs and the personal responsibility to participate in educational activities that will enhance job-related skills and abilities as may be requested or required by his/her supervisor EDUCATION * Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy. Your Role The Pharmacist, Principal, Formulary and Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) reports to the Senior Manager of Pharmacy & Therapeutics. The Pharmacist, Principal is responsible for development of drug and drug class reviews by researching clinical evidence and guidelines, analyzing data including comparative effectiveness and budget impact data to support clinically appropriate and cost-effective formulary management of drugs. In this role, you will collaborate with stakeholders to develop, coordinate, and evaluate pharmacoeconomic outcomes and value-based assessments to support formulary decision making. Job DescriptionDescription: The Pharmacist is responsible for providing pharmacy services to patients of the pharmacy. Responsibilities of the Pharmacist include the following: Ensure that pharmaceuticals are accurately dispensed in accordance with pharmacy protocols and physician orders. Ensure ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations; ensure that the pharmacy meets or exceeds accreditation standards; and implement ‘'best practices' in all pharmacy activities. Resolve pharmacy patient concerns and complaints and provide pharmacy patient counseling as needed. Conduct patient profile monitoring as necessary. Communicate with medical professionals with regard to patient status and response to medication, and when necessary to resolve patient issues. Interact with pharmaceutical manufacturers' reps as needed to maintain current knowledge of pharmaceutical products and to manage changes to formulary. Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies. Maintain a system of lot and batch numbers that will allow for recall of medication products. Manage pharmaceutical recalls. Assume on-call responsibilities in accordance with pharmacy guidelines. Report product incidents as required in accordance with pharmacy policy. Supervise the activities of pharmacy technicians and other department personnel. Report any misconduct, suspicious or unethical activities to the Compliance Officer. Represent the pharmacy in a professional and courteous manner in all job-related interactions. Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
