The Head Women's Soccer Coach is responsible for providing the leadership and coaching expertise necessary to lead the Parkland College women's soccer team and ensure the academic progress of student-athletes. The Head Women's Soccer Coach is a part-time, 12 month, stipend appointment on a schedule established by the Athletic Director. Internal and external events may occasionally necessitate an altered work schedule. The Head Women's Soccer Coach must be able to work independently and accurately prioritize tasks. Minimum Requirements: * Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and past experience coaching and/or teaching soccer. * Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification. * Prospective new hires will successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check with fingerprinting. Preswim Coaching & Instruction Assists with designing and implementing effective practice plans and workouts focused on fundamental stroke mechanics, water safety, and endurance for the preswim level. Instructs and demonstrates proper swimming techniques to participants of various skill levels in a positive and encouraging environment. Provides excellent customer service, including interacting with participants and parents to answer program questions and provide constructive feedback on progress. Assists with setting up and taking down necessary practice equipment (lanes, kickboards, etc.). May act as the lead instructor in the Head Coach's absence. B. Deck Supervision & Safety Provides required shift supervision on the pool deck, supporting the daily operations of all aquatic programs and helping maintain a welcoming environment. Ensures all possible safety measures are observed by program participants, members, and staff; identifies and immediately reports any facility hazards to the Aquatics Director. Responds immediately to emergencies as required; maintains and forwards accurate accident and incident reports to the supervisor. Models relationship-building and actively addresses member and community inquiries/concerns according to YMCA procedures. Contributes to staff training by demonstrating best practices in safety, communication, and member engagement during shifts. C. Administrative & Compliance Report any issues, concerns, or policy breaches to the Head Swim Coach and the Senior Director of Aquatics promptly. Attends all mandatory YMCA staff trainings and meetings. Complies with Bloomington-Normal YMCA rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Licensing/Certification Requirements Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification (or equivalent) required upon employment or within 30 days of hire. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certification required upon employment or within 30 days of hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of the sport of swimming and fundamental stroke mechanics (non-USA Swimming focus). Skill in instructing and demonstrating swim skills to children of all abilities. Skill in performing CPR and First Aid activities; ability to react quickly and accurately in emergencies. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public (parents, members). Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while providing effective shift coverage. Ability to maintain composure during stressful situations. Necessary Skills and Qualifications: Requires one season of competitive or recreational swim experience or equivalent participation/coaching experience. Experience working with youth (ages 5-12) in a sports, recreation, or camp setting is preferred. Preferred Skills and Qualifications: Possession of Spanish language both written and spoken.
