Collins is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Professional Engineer for the Regional Manager role in our Salt Lake City, Utah, office. The Regional Manager is responsible for the successful operations of the office. The Regional Manager is responsible for the technical, business development, financial, and administrative management of the office, for achieving the company's goals and ensuring policies, practices, and philosophies are followed. The position requires a high level of ethical and professional conduct in technical and managerial activities. This position reports to a division manager. Typical Duties and Responsibilities: Business Development/Marketing Identifies and cultivates new business and clients. Prepares an annual comprehensive business plan addressing both short-term and long-term goals. Develops, supervises, and monitors client relationship strategies, maintaining meaningful relationships with all clients. Responsible for submitting monthly marketing status reports. Ensures that external client focus is top priority of the region, and that systems, processes, and activities that focus on the client at all levels of the region are implemented. Attends meetings or events outside of normal working hours. Financial Achieves all regional performance goals including revenue, profit, utilization, multiplier, overhead, staffing, and business development. Prepares annual office business plan/budget. Prepares and monitors project budgets. Has overall responsibility for the profitability of all projects in office. Prepares pre-qualifications and proposals, estimating project costs, contract negotiation, project quality, staffing schedules, and project profitability. Maintains fiscal monitoring utilizing corporate guidelines and systems to ensure accounts receivable, accounts payable, project budgets, and contracts meet company goals. Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects. Develops inter-office agreements for his/her projects within the company. Management/Technical Supervises office staff and is responsible for technical training and career development of team. Develops and implements communication processes and systems to ensure effective communication with staff, clients, and corporate office. Ensures that employees are aware of the corporate strategic plan, policies, and procedures, including all short- and long-term goals. Responsible for identifying, recruiting, and retaining qualified technical and administrative personnel; monitors staff performance and make necessary personnel changes. Reviews and approves all employees' expense reports and timesheets. Serves as a senior project manager or senior project engineer on complex projects and as a designated client contact. Is active in technical societies such as ACEC. Publishes engineering papers and/or articles. Safety Has overall safety responsibility for his/her office. Ensures that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receives such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work. What you'll be doing: Lead engineering practice in the state of Utah Provide leadership, direction, and performance guidance to ensure all staff are well supported and provided appropriate opportunities for growth and professional development Support the long-term strategy, growth, and pipeline development of civil engineering work in Utah Provide direction, expertise, and support to ensure project and work deliverables are successfully achieved and delivered according to Volkert's quality standards Lead business development, proposal, and presentation efforts Lead engineering projects or tasks including managing scopes, budgets, subcontractors, schedules, and reporting to ensure successful outcomes for our clients Serve as a representative to a variety of external entities including federal, state, and local agencies, clients, subcontractors, industry-related groups, and various government and community entities Establish and administer budgets for multiple projects, monitor and control costs, and review and approve cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects Manage work-in-process, ensure accurate client billings, and monitor outstanding accounts receivable efforts on Utah projects Assist with recruitment and growth of the region Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development What you need to have: Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Utah 10 to 15+ years of relevant experience in engineering and civil design Experience leading and mentoring staff and managing projects, including assigning and prioritizing work Advanced proficiency with civil engineering principles, practices, processes, and standard of care Strong working knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements, and business impact on the organization Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with employees effectively, persuasively, and tactfully at all levels of the organization Experience working with UDOT is preferred Why Volkert?
