About the Role
We are seeking a skilled CAD Designer to support store modernization initiatives for a leading U.S. retailer. This role focuses on testing and refining low-voltage control room designs as part of a large-scale refresh project. You will create accurate layouts and documentation that ensure compliance with design standards and operational requirements.
Job Description
As a CAD Designer, you will:
Develop and update control room plan sets using CAD standards and design conventions.
Document existing conditions and convert site photos into precise layouts, including ladder racks, MDF/IDF cabinets, UPS systems, and grounding bars.
Lay out and label equipment such as racks, junction boxes, ladder racking, UPS placement, camera locations, and voice/data drops.
Produce single-phase and three-phase line diagrams aligned with store requirements.
Apply low-voltage design standards for structured cabling, MDF/IDF requirements, pathways, and device drops.
Ensure proper clearances, cable routing, and equipment access in all designs.
Incorporate store-specific needs such as paging, wireless, and external equipment placements.
Collaborate with engineers, electrical contractors, and deployment teams to refine layouts.
Integrate feedback, resolve design conflicts, and maintain documentation quality.
Communicate assumptions and constraints clearly to cross-functional teams.

Service Design Drafter
Department: Service
The Design Drafter will create and maintain designs, layouts, drawings, and documentation required for product lines, which include motors, generators and magnetic drives. Design Drafters adhere to both internal and internationals standards, as well as applicable specifications in order to achieve satisfactory product performance. Product lines contain both standard and custom designs with high engineering content. Also support customer orders from the proposal phase thru the design, development, manufacturing, testing, and field service/aftermarket phases. The Design Drafter will be responsible for collaboration and sharing of best design practices within the WEG Company
Major Areas of Accountability:
Engineering Work: Must be an enthusiastic self starter, able to organize and pursue broad objectives, and have the ability to manage multiple, changing priorities. Performs assigned drafting tasks under supervision, including creating 2D drawings and 3D models from sketches, layouts, creating bill of materials, or marked-up prints. Ensures drawings are accurate, clear, and meet established drafting standards.
Communication: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, on technical and issues. Demonstrated sense of urgency.
Quality & Accuracy: Reviews own work carefully to minimize errors. Learns to identify drafting issues and escalate concerns to senior drafters or engineers.
Software & Technical Programs: Computer literate, with knowledge of current operating systems and software.
Project Oversight: Determine project schedules to complete projects in required time.
Cross-Functional Support:
Incorporate manufacturability input provided by Manufacturing Engineering, into designs.
Integrates serviceability input from Service Engineers to improve long-term product reliability and support.
Provides support to Marketing on inquiries and new orders to assure technical and economic feasibility.
Documentation: Create and maintain standards, designs, drawings, and specifications for quotations, products, and aftermarket. Responsible for record keeping of same.
Collaboration: Works closely with senior drafters and engineers to understand project requirements. Accepts feedback and incorporates revisions into work. Resolve production problems and render technical and process assistance to shop.
Additional Duties: Performs other related activities as assigned by the Sr. Team Members, Team Leader, or Manager of Engineering.
Learning & Development: Builds knowledge of company drafting practices, product designs, and applicable standards. Develops proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, SAP) through training and guided practice. Demonstrates willingness to learn new skills, software, and drafting techniques. Participates in team improvement initiatives when requested.
Knowledge /Skills / Abilities:
2 years technical college, 2 years college pre-engineering, Drafting Certificate or equivalent
0 - 3 years' experience building upon the Detail and Layout Drafter
Knowledge of documentation requirements of ISO 9001.
Knowledge and understanding of engineering operating systems within the department and understanding of how engineering interfaces with other departments.
Necessary present knowledge of current operating systems and software common to business applications (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project).

A Brief Summary of This Position:

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:
BS degree in Engineering in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Machine Design, Process Design or related field with 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
AAS degree in relevant field such as Mechanical Design with 10 years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Solid experience with product design and manufacturing, specially Design For Manufacturing (DFM).
3D CAD required (preferably Solid Works).
Knowledge of GD&T principles strongly preferred.
Knowledge of ASME, FEA calculations preferred.
Experience with FMEA, DVP&R, Quality Control, Site-Installation a plus.
Project development and leadership skills are essential.
Experience with customer interaction and working under time constraints a definite plus.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Drafter to join our engineering team. This role will support our Finishing, Tooling, and Compaction teams by creating and maintaining accurate technical drawings for tools, finished parts, and part assemblies.
