Prepare and revise 3-D models using BIM software.

A Brief Summary of This Position:
This is an individual contributor position in the Lighting and Transportation division. The incumbent reads and interprets customer order information. Technical skills in computer aided drafting and basic understanding of mathematics normally acquired through an Associate of Applied Science degree and/or related experience (includes Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry)
A solid background in 3-D modeling techniques
Previous PC experience a must, including intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and AutoDesk (AutoCAD and Inventor)
Understanding of the end use of the product and knowledge of the fabrication and manufacturing processes used to make the product
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret customer specifications, plans and other order information to determine the format required to complete customer orders
Ability to identify any inconsistent, conflicting or missing customer information and determine the correct course of action to resolve the issues with some assistance from a Division Drafting Manager/Drafting Supervisor or Senior Design Drafter
High level of proficiency regarding Valmont's drafting processes and systems
Demonstrated strong professional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to keep a positive, professional attitude in a fast-paced environment subject to specific deadlines which must be met
Must possess strong problem solving skills, with attention to detail and a number/math orientation
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
Associates Degree in Drafting
Autodesk Inventor 2013 or newer version
AutoCAD 2013, PDF (Nitro Pro), Zoom, Inventor 2019, Scientific Calculator and Drafting Equipment knowledge/experience

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. No travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. What You Need to Know

• May be asked to complete approximately two hours of assessments as part of the hiring process
Your Responsibilities
• Continue developing knowledge of industry reference material (i.e. CRSI and ACI manuals).
• Verify drawings, dates, specifications, addenda and other contractual information from the routing sheet or directly from the business system.
• Working with supervision, begin detailing more complex projects (i.e. jobs with columns, beams, one- and two-way slabs, and grade beams).
• Bring any change(s) made to the contract documents to the attention of your supervisor (i.e. change made of the approval drawings, changes made by the field or yourself).
• Detail accessories, mesh, couplers and dowel bars and prepare material lists as required.
• Work with job site personnel to determine project requirements for detailing and delivery of material.
• Work with A/E regarding problems or questions on contract documents.
• Produce the material list for all products from RebarCAD and produce replacement orders as required.
• Enter all drawings for submission into drawing tracking system.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
Vocational certificate in CAD design/drafting issued from an accredited school or college, or equivalent combination of training and work experience
At least one year of experience detailing rebar using a CAD-based detailing system
Preferred Qualifications:
Two-year technical degree from an accredited school or college
Construction and concrete related construction knowledge and experience
Working knowledge of industry reference material (i.e. CRSI and ACI)
Ability to work as a team member on projects with an aptitude for problem solving
Organized and detail-oriented
Able to manage time effectively and prioritize responsibilities
Effective communication skills
