Job Title: Construction CAD Designer/Drafter Company: Janotta & Herner Reports to: Director of Design FLSA: Hourly Construction CAD Designer/Drafter will collaborate with J&H Project Managers, Engineers, Consultants, Superintendents and Clients as assigned by the Design Department Director. Will be responsible to plan, coordinate and create complete construction drawings for assigned projects.
Essential Functions:
Meet with the project team to develop & fully understand the design requirements of the project.
Analyze and identify project risks.
Gather and assemble the necessary measurements, dimensions or other information required to complete the drawings.
Provide the team with practical design recommendations based on the project requirements, budget, site and recent trends.
Proficiently use CAD and/or Revit to produce construction grade drawing sets.
Prepare preliminary design drawings for work acquisition and bidding.
Prepare drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Associate's degree or certification program in architectural drafting, or similar.
5-10 years of experience is preferred.
Proficient in computer-aideddesign (CAD) software.
General knowledge of building design, specifications, codes, and structural analysis.
Ability to apply the fundamentals of sketching and design.
Mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Great analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Working Conditions:
This role involves working in an office environment generally during the hours of 7:00am-4:30pm. Additional overtime may be required to meet project goals or deadlines. Occasionally, flexibility in working hours will be needed based on events and business needs.

General Purpose:
Special Studio is the custom product design studio offering the service of product development to MillerKnoll clients, specifically A&D. Works with A&D clients, our internal Studio team, designers, dealers and sales to deliver creative and profitable products that solve our clients' problems. Works with A&D to determine the needs of the opportunity, vet the opportunity to determine its strategic alignment with our Sales Partners and direct appropriate work through the Tailored Studio Process. Would also engage in creative responses and work with the Design lead identifying possible product responses to said design brief, generate ROM / budgetary pricing and project timelines for response to customer. Vet A&D opportunities to validate the team is supporting the most strategic initiatives of the organization. As part of a cross functional Engineering team, the Design Engineer will work throughout the conceptual stage, the design process, the testing phase, and through production launch and industrialization. The Design Engineer will be involved in developing new products and product extensions to compliment and support current product lines.
CORE FUNCTIONS
· Plan, conceptualize, and develop designs to effectively support existing and new product offerings.
· Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new designs.
· Coordinate with development team on concept realization and feasibility using SolidWorks modeling, and rapid prototyping methodologies. Perform engineering calculations to support design work.
· Use engineering analysis and simulation to design in product quality in the early design stages and reduce iteration and issues during new product introduction.
· Create design documentation for release to manufacturing including part/assembly drawings.
· Support design through production tooling, qualification testing, and manufacturing introduction.
· Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using CAD software.
· Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors.
· Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process.

Education and Experience
