The patient accounts receivable representative will be responsible for maintaining industry standards for the A/R they are assigned to in regards to aging, collection rates, and DSO. This position will post payments, contractuals, and courtesy adjustments as needed; be responsible for the follow up on all outstanding patient claims; will work the patient aging reports as directed by the A/R Manager, be responsible for lowering their aging patient A/R to acceptable standards, and help in the preparation of accounts that are to be sent to the collection agency. This position will have certain receipt requirements and bonus potential as listed in Attachment 1. This is a full-time schedule; Monday-Thursday 7:45- 5pm and Friday 7:45am - 2 pm. POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for assisting our providers in providing medical care and the maintenance of patient charts and gathering necessary clinical data. This position utilizes professionalism, knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide excellent patient experience. CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Prepares patients for exam and treatment by rooming patients and preparing them for a clinical exam by one of our providers. 2. Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures which could include taking patients' radiographs and drawing up injections. Must always practice universal blood and body fluid precautions and proper use of personal protective equipment as needed. Responsible for prioritization of patient flow through clinical process. 3. Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling of patients for clinic. Responsible for gathering test results and inputting them into patient charts. Acts as a resource to clinicians to provide optimal patient care. 4. Provides clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation to include but not limited to complete medical records including labs, authorizations, X-Rays, hospital records and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit. Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion. 5. Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas. Disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures. Follows manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances. Performs basic maintenance of equipment and coordinates needed maintenance for prompt repairs. 6. Orders supplies as directed, stocks patient care areas. Medication ordering and tasks related to all medications (e.g., expired medications/equipment and recalls). 7. Develops and maintains effective communication mechanisms with all external and internal customers. Exemplifies service orientation and the team concept in all contacts. 8. This position will complete all necessary on-boarding/orientation activities. 9. This position works under the direct supervision of Management and the providers. This position interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient. Also interacts with physician's offices to report, ask for or clarify information. Prioritizes data from multiple sources to provide support for the response of the patient and family to changes in health status. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Requires strong computer skills, including the ability to work with multiple programs including Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Microsoft, and Google suite. Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion. Foot and Ankle Clinics of Arizona will sponsor and put every hired Medical Assistant through a radiology course. Completion of radiology course is needed to practice as Medical Assistant for our practice. The hired employee has 4 months from their start date to complete certification. Without the successful completion of certification employment may be at risk of termination. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATION/LICENSES Experience with office medical procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance, podiatry, or other managed care operations, EMR and scheduling software preferred. Xray certification and experience preferred. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
