Reporting to the Systems Engineering Manager, the Industrial Controls Technician leads troubleshooting and repair electrical, controls and communication issues on complex production lines which include PLC, HMI, motion control, VFDs, servo motors/drives, industrial networks and vision inspection systems.
Shift: 6am - 6pm (rotating shift)
What a typical day looks like:
Support Automation Technicians in troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components to return equipment to production.
Set up and troubleshooting of motion control systems, Servo motors/drives and VFDs.
Troubleshoot, maintain, and update in-line vision systems such as Cognex.
Plan, implement PLC and HMI software upgrades and perform functional verifications.
Read and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, various programs and mechanical diagrams including complex automated system drawings.
Write test procedures to demonstrate effectiveness of software/hardware upgrades.
Clearly and concisely document work performed in Medical Device environment.
Other duties & responsibilities:
Maintain software, documentation and equipment to the latest revision or operational specifications.
Identify critical devices on new equipment and assure we have all manuals, cables, software, firmware and knowledge necessary to troubleshoot, repair or replace those devices.
Collaborate with the automation team in the qualification process of automated systems.
Assist engineers in developing and designing hardware and software required for automation solutions per specifications.
Train other technicians and operators on processes and equipment.
Proper use of power tools and measuring equipment
Strong awareness of safety/electrical safety.
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
Requires a minimum of 6 years of experience troubleshooting PLCs', HMI's, motion control, VFDs, Servo motors/drives, industrial networks and vision inspection systems.
Associates degree, Military technical training or vocational training in Industrial Controls Technology.
Medical device experience or other regulated industry is preferred.
Software experience with: RSLOGIX, Logics Designer, Factory Talk, Ignition, Cognex, Insight, Siemens S7.

Summary: Automation Technicians are the front line “reactive” responders to solve maintenance problems that occur throughout the plant requiring troubleshooting, analyzing, problem solving, and implementation of plans and solutions; duties and tasks are performed on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic, and automated production equipment to meet all operational goals and objectives. Must have 5+ years of directly related experience and a solid understanding of all related equipment, processes, and controls. You must have a strong manufacturing background with demonstrated in depth troubleshooting abilities as well as a high mechanical and electrical aptitude.
Job Duties:
Maintenance and repair of all mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of automation equipment
Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance work on automation equipment in a manufacturing/production environment
Perform maintenance, set-up, and PM on automation equipment in Injection Molding department
Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment related processing issues
On-call as needed by department and able to be flexible with schedule as needed
Use standard and metric hand tools to complete tasks and duties
Troubleshoot maintenance problems that occur throughout the plant with a major emphasis on electrical problems, to include A.C.(Alternating Current) and D.C. (Direct Current) drives, PLC (programmable logic controllers) as well as basic motor control circuits.
Electrical duties: performing all major and minor electrical repairs including 480V 3-phase motor repairs/installation, motor starter circuit repairs, VFD drives, photo-optic sensing devices, proximity switches, e-stop circuitry, and group fault detection in accordance to the guidelines established by Pactiv's “Electrical Safety Program”, read and interpret schematics and basic electrical symbol identification, understand electrical theory including basic OHMS-law application, AC/DC drives, PLC, basic motor control circuits
Mechanical duties: clean, lubricate, and adjust equipment when needed, examine mechanical equipment to diagnose and repair problems, disassemble, repair/replace, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment/devices including motors, conveyors, pumps, belts, chains, etc., read mechanical prints and technical data during installation and repair of equipment, read and interpret PI&D drawings
May assist with the training of other employees
Utilize mandatory safety equipment; executes duties in a safe and efficient manner; adhere to all safety rules and regulations

Qualifications:
5+ years automation technician experience within plastics industry; experience within Injection Molding industry highly preferred
Strong technical skills including mechanical, electrical, and electronic/PLC programming in a manufacturing/production environment
HS Diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree in related field preferred
Must possess the ability to work in tight spaces and on ladders/platforms
Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting robotics/automation
Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, gearboxes, belts/pulleys, chains, and sprockets

What Operations Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health
Operations Management is responsible for strategic oversight and leadership direction within the Operations function.
Responsibilities:
Overseeing and maintaining an operational readiness of the AutoStore (AS) and SLAM at our fully automated locations.
Inventory and account for repair parts for the AS and SLAM
Ordering repair parts for the AS and SLAM as they are consumed.
Protecting and improving the value of Cardinal's assets and ensuring that ASRS and all supply line distribution equipment and systems including PSI, continue to perform their intended functions.
Implementing and managing the reliability-based maintenance function. This position also executes equipment inspection and monitoring programs; defines and implements maintenance best practices to improve overall mechanical equipment uptime; and continuously evaluates current maintenance, operations and reliability methods and implements changes to enhance effectiveness at increasing value-maximizing performance.
Monitoring operation and maintains ASRS equipment; robots, conveyors, and other mechanical and electrical equipment; reviewing logs as necessary to assure proper operation of equipment; responsible for reporting any problems/malfunctions on an as need/requested basis.
Performing preventive maintenance tasks when required per manufacturing standard and frequencies, utilizing a CMMS.
Overseeing repairs and PMs of ASRS equipment and implements frequency of repair and/or PM per manufactures recommendations, standards, and warranty compliance.
Ensuring the availability of an adequate inventory of tools and other supplies to operate the ASRS and all associated automation, including PSI.
Overseeing the activities of contractors working, operational demonstrations, or training sessions within the ASRS distribution work and the SLAM line.
Qualifications:
4+ years of experience working with commercial operating systems and general maintenance procedures, preferred
High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred
2+ years of work order management preferred
Experience with electrical and electronic principles and industrial electronics
Able to complete training to become a PSI SLAM Line and Swisslog- Supper User and become proficient with: Ability to manually move robots and bins throughout system, Rescue robots from grid, Access, and ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve system issues using Autostore portal
Make repairs and adjustments to system (robots, ports, etc.) using Autostore portal
Ability to open tickets with PSI and Swisslog global helpdesk and help troubleshoot issues
Experience with Java, Microsoft, and C++ preferred
High familiarity with Autostore Console (ASC) preferred

As a Robot Technician you will
Configure robot systems and perform job calibrations for production operation
Monitor robot systems during production and address or report any operational issues
Assist in repairs to the robotic systems.
Understand the requirements of a properly installed and prepared tool and the impact of errors or improper setup on the robotic process
Perform machine cycle and make any necessary robot program modifications
Assess and troubleshoot operational errors
Read and understand product briefs and process sheets to ensure accuracy in machine set up
Operate HMI/MIU to optimize platen heights, install program for robots/robotics lines, and input process numbers for mold changes
Understand and efficiently operate robotic pendants, controllers, and panels.
Use a tape measure to confirm mold sizes
Ensure all equipment is in proper position before removing molds from machine
Clean and inspect molds between each use; report any damage to Set Up Lead and Quality Department, send out any damaged molds for repair
Install, repair, or replace end of arm tooling for robotic machines
Perform assigned preventative maintenance and housekeeping tasks to prevent productivity losses and possible equipment damage
Train new and existing team members on different functions of the work area to ensure all are able to perform all tasks properly; share knowledge and best practices to help aid efficiency and productivity
Cross train in other areas with similar equipment, and in areas that immediately precede and follow the operations you are responsible for
Perform all job functions in compliance with safety guidelines and company policies/procedures
Maintain your training and full understanding of the quality requirements of the products your equipment / process produces
Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition, clean and maintain equipment

Installation
* Installs HVAC and refrigeration systems and components (e.g. hot water heaters, filters, kilns, etc.) for

Project Management and Team Expectations
* Coordinates with assigned lead and/or supervisor and other trades for the purpose of completing

* Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, and troubleshoot malfunctioning systems.
* Repairs heating and air conditioning systems and/or components (e.g. pumps, motors, air handlers, fan
coils, piping, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a comfortable work environment.
Qualifications
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the HVAC and Building Controls
Technician must possess the following qualifications:
* Job related experience within a specialized field is required.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Must have basic knowledge, with the ability to advance into programming of Rockwell Automation software such as but not limited to, Factory Talk, Panel Builder, Control Logix, RS Logix, Pro Face HMI building, Device net, ABB 1900 chart recorders Old /New series, Drives programming, Electrical Schematics.
· Provide project management assistance for integration on capital expenditures which ensures projects are on time and within budget and that the installed systems are fully functional, meeting all requirements
