* Organize, identify, and prepare connector samples for testing and performance measurement.
* Operate and maintain professional test, measurement, and data acquisition equipment.
* Discuss objectives with lab staff or customers to determine optimum preparation techniques for evaluating electrical and mechanical characteristics.
* Develop techniques to customize and adapt test samples to equipment.
* Record test equipment operation data and compile measurement data in statistical or graphical form.
* Coordinate and plan support from within and outside the laboratory for test preparation.
* Prepare samples using techniques such as soldering, wire stripping, wire crimping, and solvent cleaning.
* Operate environmental test chambers and mechanical shock and vibration testers.
* Measure tensile, insertion, retention, extraction, mating/unmating, and normal forces using a compression/tensile tester.
* Measure electrical characteristics such as contact resistance, insulation resistance, dielectric strength, and current rating.
* Perform chemical tests such as solderability and contact plating porosity.
* Interpret product specifications, industry standards, and customer specifications to perform required testing.
* Compare product performance with anticipated results or known industry standards.
* Record results manually or using computer-controlled data acquisition systems.
* Complete equipment operating logs, memos, and reports for communication or record-keeping.
* Execute simple qualification test schedules and develop sample identification schemes.
Essential Skills
* Demonstrated understanding of basic connector performance parameters and related characteristics.
* Skills to perform limited chemical, mechanical, electrical, and environmental exposure tests.
* Thorough understanding of the principles of operation of test equipment.
* Ability to use standard statistical techniques.
* Demonstrated use of personal computers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* AS or AAS degree in mechanical technology or related field, or 2+ years current, equivalent experience.

The role is situated in a manufacturing floor/lab environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
