**Job Summary:**
Provide maintenance support to troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain all instrumentation associated with the boiler, turbine, generator, and all auxiliary equipment for the plant. May perform Master I &C Technician duties during absence of a Master I&C technician.
**Essential Duties/Responsibilities:**
+ Recognizes safety hazards and follows safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public.
+ Knowledgeable of environmental rules and regulations, and effectively apply them to all work situations.
+ Install, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain protective relays, computers, metering, monitoring, and control systems on boilers, turbines, generators, and plant auxiliary equipment. In shop location includes performing benchwork and component troubleshooting.
+ Reads, and interprets electric generating plants P&ID's and CWD's to locate, identify, troubleshoot, and repair plant systems, interlocks, etc.
+ Uses test equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters electronic bridges, loop calibrators) and hand tools (i.e., drills, screwdrivers) as necessary to troubleshoot and maintain devices and systems for the power plant.
+ Works with apprentice I/C technicians and skill enhancement employees to teach proper, safe use of tools and maintenance procedures.
+ Completes all written and electronic records (i.e. work orders, calibration sheets, time cards, material requests) required to document the work in progress and as it is completed.
+ Continually updates knowledge of plant systems and instrumentation.
+ Makes decisions about how best to repair equipment and what resources (tools, time equipment) will be needed.
+ Employee must arrange own transportation to work location and may be reassigned to another location at the Company's discretion.
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Associates Degree or equivalent education in instrumentation, pneumatics, engineering, or a related technical discipline. OR
+ Completion of an Instrumentation and Controls Apprentice Training Program. OR
+ Two (2) years military experience in electronics repair and calibration may be substituted for formal training.
+ Three (3) years industrial experience in electronics repair and calibration
+ Valid drivers license

+ Good mechanical aptitude.
+ Ability to communicate orally and in written reports, condition of equipment and status of jobs to crew leader, supervision, operations, and other craft personnel and outside service representatives.
+ Knowledge of electricity, voltage, and current relationships.

+ Knowledge of maintenance activities and procedures performed on control systems used in power generation.
+ Ability to read and interpret instruction manuals blueprints and control system drawings; applies knowledge to daily tasks.
+ Ability to learn mechanical and electrical control equipment and basic power plant equipment operation.
+ Ability to use mathematics including algebra and geometry to take measurements and perform computations required for installation and calibration of equipment.
+ Ability to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, electronic and digital controllers used in control loops.
+ Ability to calibrate and perform maintenance on temperature, level, and pressure instruments and transmitters.
+ Ability to Tag Out/Lock Out equipment per NRG's Tag Out/Lock Out procedure.
+ Ability to use a personal computer and associated software.
+ Ability to operate Company vehicles and equipment (e.g. forklift, plant vehicles, etc.) and maintain operating licenses and certifications.
+ Ability to influence others toward action or a particular point of view.
+ Ability to accept responsibility for crew activities.
+ Ability to apply knowledge of plant operations, equipment and skill area knowledge to daily decision making.
+ Ability to do routine cleaning of work area.
+ Ability to complete all written and electronic records to document work in progress and completed.
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Power Plant Environment-Work both inside and outside in all temperatures and climate conditions in accordance with Heat Stress procedures. Around large rotating equipment, energized electrical equipment in high noise areas, and/or in confined places, on elevations in excess of 250 feet, or from platforms at heights of 5 feet or greater. Climb stairways, ladders, and work from aerial devices.
+ Must be prepared to work overtime as needed and respond to emergency callout 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
+ Ability to work in mentally stressful environments: must be able to react to crises where immediate action is required to correct or curtail potentially damaging or hazardous situations.
+ Daily work expectation requires ability to perform tasks by walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, shoveling, climbing, and working with hand tools (up to 25 pounds) in position above and below head, and extended from body to complete repairs.
+ Lift, carry, position and usetools and/or equipment (weighing up to 50 lbs.) in awkward positions, swing various weights of sledgehammers, stoop and bend to reach valves, pull on chain-falls or come-a-longs.
+ Ability to twist the body and neck while driving company vehicles or operating company equipment.
+ Performance of duties may cause frequent jarring of the body.
+ Work with and around hazardous and non-hazardous materials (reference the waste management guidance manual).
+ Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required i.e....steel-toed boots, respirators, goggles, safety glasses etc.
+ Have ability to discern and respond to verbal and auditory signals.
+ Ability to discern assorted colors.

The Role
Receive and inspect incoming GMP materials, ensuring compliance with documentation requirements and company SOPs
Maintain quarantine and release procedures in coordination with QA
Experience managing temperature-sensitive materials in controlled storage environments (ambient, 2-8°ree;C, -20°ree;C, -80°ree;C, LN2)
Participate in ERP system upgrades or implementations, including user acceptance testing and process optimization for materials control workflows.
Create and distribute routine inventory status reports, highlighting slow-moving, expired, or overstocked items.
Distribute GMP materials to support manufacturing operations, ensuring traceability and inventory accuracy
Support shipments of client materials, including bulk drug substances, final drug products, and samples
Maintain accurate inventory records and segregate multi-client inventories across various storage conditions (e.g., controlled room temperature, refrigerated, frozen)
Participate in internal audits and external inspections (e.g., FDA, EMEA, client audits)
Assist in the generation and review of GMP documentation, including SOPs and inspection records
Support pre-clinical and clinical operations through timely and accurate materials handling
Contribute to warehouse organization, cleanliness, and continuous improvement initiatives

High School Degree or equivalent required
Minimum 1+ years of experience in GMP materials control, warehousing, or logistics in a biopharmaceutical or regulated environment

The Systems Technician shall perform maintenance-related support ensuring the production line produces a repeatable, high-quality product meeting internal and customer quality standard. This is accomplished through programming ladder logic systems to automate repetitive tasks, eliminating safety risks, and responsive troubleshooting when targets are missed.
* Rewrite or modify PLC ladder logic programs to achieve the plant's Key Performance Indicators. Be the liaison and "change agent" between operators, leaders, and management's wants and needs with a safety mindset.
* Evaluate machinery's PLC systems to ensure end-of-life items are prioritized for replacement before extensive downtime or impact on safety, throughput, or quality. These duties require managing capital projects and ROI calculations from statistical data. Act as project leader on new equipment procurement, installation, and commissioning.
* Developing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Developing and organizing training material to transfer appropriate process/production and safety knowledge to associates. Train operations and maintenance users in new systems operations and maintenance activities.
* Perform Safeguard techniques and document changes made to programs to prevent inadvertent loading of obsolete programs or complete loss from corrupted memory or files. Ensure all systems have secure protection protocols consistent with BlueScope standards.
* Month-end reporting. Compile data for key maintenance performance indicators. Make recommendations for improvements based on data.
* Assist with all safety issues related to production and ensure that safety goals are achieved. They are engaging associates in all aspects of safety, meetings, conversations, and incident reporting.
* Create, evaluate, and revise preventive maintenance procedures that drive a reduction in unscheduled downtime, and increase reliability/predictability and consistent quality performance.
Minimum:
* Allen and Bradley RS Logix 5000 certification plus 1 year of Directly Programming (no assisting others) or 4 years solo programming and commissioning on multiple platforms.
* Must be able to perform mathematical equations to program PLC such as slope, strip weight tension, coil diameter increase, and RPM to Feet per minute and scaling.
* Maintain the ability to wear a respirator
* Maintain the ability to drive a forklift
Preferred
* 2 years of mechanical background and experience to aide during PID tuning.
Language Skills:

What you'll do…
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician, Automation & Controls to support the integration, commissioning, and optimization of generator packages and electrical systems within advanced microgrid projects. This role is hands-on and dynamic, requiring expertise in automation, controls, and system performance to help ensure reliable, safe, and compliant operations. This is a field position based out of Houston, Texas and will report directly to the Manager of Automation & Controls Engineering.
You'll make an impact by:
System Integration & Commissioning
Contributing to the integration of generator packages, switchgear, and electrical systems in line with project specifications, safety protocols, and timelines.
Carrying out and validate cable schedules, control packages, and system testing protocols.
Performing start-up and performance testing activities to confirm operational readiness and safety compliance.
Project Execution & Handover
Supporting the transition from construction to commissioning and operations teams by confirming integration requirements are met.
Tracking and closing punch list items by documenting deficiencies and assisting with resolution.
Providing troubleshooting support during early operational phases following system integration.
Technical Contribution
Assisting in troubleshooting automation, protection, and control systems (e.g., Schneider PLCs, DeepSea Controllers, ABB Relays, SEL devices).
Participating in the development and delivery of training for site personnel and contractors on microgrid operations, controls, and start-up procedures.
Helping maintain documentation control and reporting, ensuring accurate project records.
Collaboration & Reporting
Communicating progress and technical findings with project management and integration teams.
Using tracking tools to update key milestones, risks, and solutions.
Contributing to identifying risks and ensuring compliance with SHE standards, company protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Safely preparing, operating, and maintaining a motor vehicle for purposes of conducting company business

Requirements
What you'll need:
3+ years of experience in the energy sector (or equivalent electrical experience), with emphasis on power generation, automation, and controls.
Associate's degree (desired) in electrical, automation, or related technical discipline.
Knowledge of microgrid operations, system integration, and applicable codes/standards.
Hands-on experience with control and protection equipment such as: Schneider PLCs, DeepSea 8660 & 8610 Controllers (or equivalent), or ABB 615 Relay, SEL 700G, SEL 700GT, SEL RTAC
Experience working across multiple stages of project execution.
Physical ability to work in field environments, including adverse weather conditions, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing physically demanding tasks.
