Connects instruments and confirms proper operation. Sets up instrumentation at job sites. Configures instruments using calibration, start-up reports, documentation, schematics, and manufacturers' specifications. Performs basic PLC and HMI programming tasks. During the start-up phase of system implementation, performs electrical terminations and testing to assure that wiring and controls are properly installed and performing the correct functions. Verifies and test all points of the design layout. Troubleshoots problems during start-up. Repair often involves review and adjustments to programming where necessary. May perform service calls. Performs work orders during the day as well as “on-call” periods for after-hours support. Troubleshoots wiring, equipment, and PLC/HMI code. Contributes to projects, such as submittals, specification review, and assessment of drawings and schematics. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems as well as emergency backup systems Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment Assist in operational and mechanical support as needed Assist in maintaining and controlling spare parts inventory to maintain plant reliability. Assist in physical inventories. Conduct instrument calibration as scheduled/required Maintain all plant instrumentation and electrical equipment Inspect repair, install and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, and storage batteries, and work with electrical systems up to and including 480 volts Conduct troubleshooting and analysis on DCS, PLC and turbine control equipment Fully support and participate in the NAES Safety and Regulatory Compliance Programs Complete other tasks as assigned by the Area Manager WORKING RELATIONSHIPS The IC&E Technician reports to the Operations Director.
