Job Description WHAT YOU'LL DO Amsted Automotive Powder Metal Division in Geneva, IL is seeking a 2nd shift Automation Technician to perform duties to set-up, program, troubleshoot, and repair automation equipment. Shift hours are 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm. The Automation Technician will work from instructions, prints and process specifications. Set-up all robotics and automation equipment in the plant. Strong understanding of HVAC systems, sequence and applications. Demonstrated technical aptitude in mechanical and electro-mechanical fields. Able to use hand, power tools and electrical testing equipment such as a multi meter. Solid knowledge base in use of personal computers. Attention to detail. Good communication and listening skills. Key Responsibilities: Provide expert electrical and PLC programming support for troubleshooting, repairs, and new equipment installations. Connect to, read, and edit PLC logic-Allen Bradley (RSLogix 500 & Studio 5000). Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including management, maintenance, and OEM technical service, to ensure seamless equipment operation. Diagnose and resolve issues with 480V electrical systems, VFDs, HMIs, and analog sensors. Utilize FactoryTalk View Studio for HMI programming and troubleshooting. Interpret work orders, blueprints, diagrams, and equipment manuals to execute tasks efficiently. Uphold strict safety standards, including Lock-out Tag-out and GMPs. Qualifications and Skills: High School Diploma required; technical certifications or an electrical degree are advantageous. 10+ years of hands-on electrical experience with industrial equipment. Background in food manufacturing or similar regulated environments. Familiarity with packaging, palletizing, and fluid process equipment. At least 3 years of direct experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting. Proficiency with Allen Bradley PLCs (RSLogix 500 & Studio 5000); familiarity with Schneider PLCs is a plus. Strong background in 480V electrical systems, VFDs, HMIs, and analog sensor technology. Experience with FactoryTalk View Studio. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills.
