Job Description Electrical Controls Technician As an Electrical Controls Technician, you will be primarily responsible for performing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT's) on electrical assemblies and systems. Job Description Provide maintenance support to troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain all instrumentation associated with the boiler, turbine, generator, and all auxiliary equipment for the plant. May perform Master I &C Technician duties during absence of a Master I&C technician. Duties and Responsibilities Recognizes safety hazards and follows safety guidelines for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public. Knowledgeable of environmental rules & regulations and effectively apply them to all work situations. Install, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain protective relays, computers, metering, monitoring, and control systems on boilers, turbines, generators, and plant auxiliary equipment. In shop location includes benchwork and component troubleshooting. Reads, and interprets electric generating plants P&ID's and CWD's to locate, identify, troubleshoot, and repair plant systems, interlocks, etc. Use test equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters electronic bridges, loop calibrators) and hand tools (i.e., drills, screwdrivers) as necessary to troubleshoot and maintain devices and systems for the power plant. They will provide soldering and assembly of through-hole, fine pitch, and microelectronic components onto printed circuit boards, using various hand tools to meet the IPC Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies J-STD-001 Standards. The team member shall also perform rework and repair of existing circuit boards and electronics assemblies. What will you be doing? This position will be a key member of the manufacturing team. Duties include: * Fabricating cables and wiring harnesses * Electro-mechanical fabrication of various test and production hardware items * Arrange for the prototype and production fabrication of items, to include specifying components and materials, kitting parts, and tracking inventories * Mix and apply a variety of chemical encapsulation compounds and coatings and apply them to electronics units and electrical housings * Make recommendations to engineers and other technicians regarding the producibility of these items and the "best practices" to be followed * Participate in the integration, testing, and evaluation of the fabricated items into the final system * Assist in laboratory and field testing required for evaluating the system's performance * Prepares oral and written test reports, design evaluation reports, and review the work products of other technicians * Interpret data and information and explain the meaning of the results to engineers and technicians, indicating behavior characteristics and conclusions based upon data evaluation What skills will the ideal candidate have to be successful? AutoCAD experience preferred, not required Certifications: Relevant certifications in electrical and control systems are adventageous.
