Job Description We are seeking a skilled and dedicated IE Shift Technician to join our team. The IE Shift Technician works as part of the maintenance team to support plant operations and ensure equipment availability and proper functioning. The IE Shift Technician must be knowledgeable of and follow GMPs and all applicable SOPs. They work closely with shift operators, mechanics, and management for placement, repair, and preventative maintenance of process and safety equipment. IE Shift Technicians are required to trouble shoot electrical and electronic systems to resolve problems encountered during operation and restore the system to an operational state. This is a rotating shift position, including nights, weekends and holidays. Job Duties Participates in American Chrome Chemical safety program Troubleshoots equipment breakdowns and restores operation on electrical power distribution, instrument control and mechanical systems. Troubleshoots and restores operation on pumps, fans, filters, piping, valving, drives, PM's, inspections, agitators and/or bulk handling systems. Conducts routine maintenance and troubleshooting of control systems in both the process and utility areas. Performs preventive maintenance for all equipment. Calibrates instruments, per SOP, as required. Works with maintenance support and stock room personnel to ensure all parts transactions are properly documented. Participates in teams to perform root cause analysis of failures. Assists with checkout and startup of new equipment Communicates equipment details effectively with other maintenance, process, and engineering personnel. Assists the Maintenance Planner by providing feedback on PM (Preventive Maintenance) frequency and job steps. Uses the JD Edwards (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to track work orders, purchase parts, and track time. Makes recommendations to supervisors regarding spare parts inventory. Assists with identifying and standardizing parts between departments. Operates lift trucks, man lifts and other similar equipment Communicates with production workers regarding maintenance jobs including status, repairs, and follow-up review. Conducts work activities in an environmentally sound manner by being committed to the protection of the environment. Follows all OSHA (Occupational Health and Safety Administration), NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency), NEC (National Electrical Code) Follows all plant safety procedures and provides feedback when updates or changes need to be made. Possesses a 'hands-on' attitude and is willing to assist fellow maintenance team members with repairs as needed. Must have a demonstrated history of safe work behavior and a sincere desire to follow and improve upon safety policies and procedures. Experience Proficiency in mechanical diagnosis and repair, computer hardware, and software. Mechanical aptitude is essential. Must be a proficient industrial electrician, instrument control and industrial mechanical repair person. Experience with operating specialized computer interfaces as required for diagnosis and troubleshooting. Experience with industrial packaging/warehouse equipment and control systems a plus. Must be proficient with computer programs such as MS Office and must be able to learn support systems such as JD Edwards with minimal individualized training. Must be able to climb stairs, perform some lifting up to 49 pounds, sit, or stand for long periods, work at heights, bend, kneel, and be able to be respirator qualified. Must be able to work in all environmental conditions, including temperature extremes. As an Engineering Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting prototype builds by testing and assembling components. This position involves performing rework on prototype cards, which may include soldering or rewiring, and assisting with chassis, cabinet, and system builds. You will handle in-house modifications and component selection, adapting to shifting priorities on a day-to-day and hour-to-hour basis. Responsibilities * Assemble and build I&C system components, panels, and assemblies per engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions. * Perform bench-level testing of sensors, transmitters, controllers, and signal conditioning equipment. * Support system integration by wiring, configuring, and verifying I&C connections and test setups. * Assist with prototype builds, hardware troubleshooting, and calibration activities. * Execute calibration and verification procedures using standard lab equipment. * Document build and test results, including assembly records, data, and nonconformance reports. * Maintain lab organization, tool control, and a safe working environment. * Support functional and environmental testing such as continuity, insulation resistance, and signal verification. * Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards and lab protocols. * Collaborate with engineers and technicians to identify and resolve design or test issues. * Contribute to continuous improvement by updating procedures and work instructions. * Prepare instrumentation and test setups for system-level or field testing. Essential Skills * Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or product development environment without an associate degree. * Basic understanding of electrical and instrumentation principles including voltage, current, and analog/digital signals. * Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings. * Proficiency in hand soldering, cable fabrication, and harness assembly. * Experience in panel wiring with attention to routing, strain relief, and grounding. * Familiarity with test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes. * Basic mechanical assembly skills including drilling, mounting, and hardware installation. * Understanding of ESD precautions and safe handling of sensitive electronics. Additional Skills & Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred. * Electronics familiarity. * Ability to handle shifting priorities and change gears quickly. Work Environment This position is fully onsite in an electronics lab environment. The typical work schedule starts at 7am and consists of an 8-hour day. The lab environment is fast-paced with shifting priorities, providing opportunities to work on various stages of assembly and modification. Collaboration with hardware teams and testing in the lab are key aspects of the role, and the dress code is casual. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, NC.
