Roles & Responsibilities
​Using computerized tomography equipment to capture diagnostic images of patients' internal organs and tissues.
Appropriately positioning patients to scan specific areas of their bodies.
Performing regular warm-up sequences on the CT scanner to prolong the life of the X-ray tubes.
Sterilizing radiologic equipment to ensure the safety of patients.
Correctly interpreting doctors' written scanning instructions.
Administering radiocontrast agents to patients to enhance the visibility of internal organs and tissues.
Evaluating CT scans to determine whether they are of good technical quality.
Explaining scanning procedures to patients and providing reassurance and support as required.

Responsibilities
Responsible for the care of patients of all ages; greet and thoroughly explain the examination.
Screen patient before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination (i.e. pain, claustrophobia, metallic objects, etc).
Prepare patients for MRI procedure by positioning them in such a way that causes the least discomfort, administering contrast (when applicable); instruct patient about how to position their body appropriately.
Obtain high quality, diagnostic images of the anatomy requested by the physician using appropriate safety precautions.
Responsible for proper safety precautions for MRI Magnet for all patients and office staff.
Maintain the equipment in good operating order, demonstrating proper infection control practices.
Maintain knowledge of the anatomical views according to each physicians' preference
Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.

Valid Alabama state licensure or certification to practice as an MRI Technologist required

Prioritizes customer and patient satisfaction and utilizes AIDET principles. Works with other departments, modalities and personnel to provide above average care to patients and families.

Practices good stewardship with supplies, equipment and department resources to assist in maintaining the financial viability of the DCH Health System.

Understands, utilizes and takes responsibility for the care, cleaning and maintenance of all imaging, transport and office supplies, equipment and software as required by assigned area.
Instructs and supervises student technologists and new employees as assigned.
Any job assignment requiring call during off duty hours becomes part of that duty and will be compensated as is customary for the hospital.
A charge tech or lead tech when assigned must facilitate and coordinate services for their area of assignment and serve as a contact person for radiologist, physician's offices and other departments within the DCH System. Keep other shifts informed of any changes in protocol, equipment issues and other functions that may impact the shift/department. Monitor the functions of the area of expertise and/or imaging department needs as necessary.
Per Diem staff must work one holiday in a calendar year and at least once during a 90 day period. Per Diem staff must notify the person in charge of any unavailability. If after four requests are made with a per diem employee declining work; that employee's per diem position will be reviewed and removed from payroll. Per Diem staff must submit a two-week notice of resignation.
Functions proficiently in specified area with little or no supervision.
DCH Standards:
Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Fulfills education requirements for assigned position including DCH Health System and Imaging required CBT's, in-services, meetings and educational sessions.

Qualifications
Must be efficient in the use of imaging equipment in the area of expertise, office equipment and related material essential to good patient care, imaging exams and Synapse.
Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
Must fulfill the graduation and registration requirements as follows:
Radiologic (Diagnostic/Fluoroscopy), Computed Tomography (CT), Interventional Radiology (IR), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI Technologist).
Graduate of a JRCERT approved school of radiologic technology. Must have current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography or be registry eligible. Registration is required within one year of graduation of a JRCERT approved school of radiologic technology.
MRI (MR) - ARRT MRI registry eligible or MR registration preferred. Formal education or previous on-the-job training recommended.
MR Technician - Must have six months of on-the-job training to include a Medical Director approved off-site instruction course of one or two weeks, followed by a three-month probation.

Qualifications for the job...
Knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles and procedures as well as operation and maintenance of radiologic equipment as normally acquired through completion of two years post high school training in an approved school of radiologic technology.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R) must be acquired within 90 days of hire date.
Up to twenty-four months experience necessary in order to gain familiarity with hospital environment and department routine, polices and procedures in diagnostic radiology and any specialty areas.
Formal education in specialty areas would be accepted in lieu of experience.

This position will perform x-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement using knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Operates diagnostic equipment, develops film and prepares the room with the necessary equipment and supplies for the procedure, as well as perform Medical Assistant duties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.
• Promptly greets patients when entering waiting area, exam room, and laboratory or x-ray room
• Consistently communicates with patients on wait times; provides direction to the next step in the treatment process
• Provides solutions to patient problems and recognizes and seeks help in emergent/hazardous situations
• Executes follow-up calls with a sense of urgency
• Assist front desk personnel with patient check in/out procedures when necessary
• Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and weight, takes brief history, past medical, family and social history current medications, allergies and other pertinent historical information as appropriate
• Assists with patient transfers
• Assists with procedures directly supervised by the provider
• Follows documentation procedures and completes required documentation related to patient visit
• Performs timely radiology procedures for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician
• Performs necessary quality control procedures to ensure quality exams are performed
• Prepares patients for radiologic procedures and follows established clinical and regulatory procedures in regards to patient safety and care; including proper radiation protection and shielding techniques
• Ensures that equipment is in proper working order and reports any malfunctions to the Manager or provider on duty
• Follows documentation procedures and completes required documentation related to patient visit
• Assumes responsibility for maintaining and improving diagnostic imaging knowledge and skills with the support and assistance of outside educational resources
• Responsible for maintaining current licensure and certification for the facility radiology equipment and licensure
WHAT'S THE SCHEDULE?
Full-time team members work a rotatinghour/week schedule, consisting of 12-hour weekday shifts and every-other weekend. Our PRN (per diem) team members are scheduled on an as-needed basis.

• ARRT Certification preferred
• Experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred

What You Will Do
Operate a scanner to obtain images used to diagnose and treat of pathologies.
Prepare and position patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately to produce cross-sectional images of the body.
Perform patient pre-screening, scheduling, and education related to the examination.
Enter and monitor patient data, transfer images from disk to magnetic media to produce the transparency, and develop film in an automatic processor.
Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
Ensure prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
Ensure equipment is properly functioning. Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.
Assist in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
One or more of the following required:
Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Southlake Orthopaedics, a premier Orthopaedic practice with two Birmingham locations, is looking for a Part Time MRI Technologist to join our team. The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures as directed by Southlake providers. The MRI Technologist must have a sound knowledge of human anatomy and MRI safety procedures.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the care of patients of all ages; greet and thoroughly explain the examination.
Screen patient before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination (i.e. pain, claustrophobia, metallic objects, etc).
Prepare patients for MRI procedure by positioning them in such a way that causes the least discomfort, administering contrast (when applicable); instruct patient about how to position their body appropriately.
Obtain high quality, diagnostic images of the anatomy requested by the physician using appropriate safety precautions.
Responsible for proper safety precautions for MRI Magnet for all patients and office staff.
Maintain the equipment in good operating order, demonstrating proper infection control practices.
Maintain knowledge of the anatomical views according to each physicians' preference
Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
Experience & Education
Valid Alabama state licensure or certification to practice as an MRI Technologist required
National registration with the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (AART) required
Orthopaedics experience preferred
Knowledge of EHRs, Greenway PrimeSuite preferred
Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint area for radiography
