Essential Functions:
Performs magnetic resonance imaging studies. Confers with the Radiologists to establish protocols of non-standard examinations and determines technical factors to complete the exam. Receives patients, explain method of examination, and positions patient, performs IV puncture and administers IV contrast agent as indicated. Independently performs and completes routine examination.
Evaluates the nature of critical and urgent procedures and arranges patient priorities to accommodate the Stat orders. Maintains records of patients imaged and type of examinations performed including protocols used.
Monitors the use of supplies and orders supplies as needed. Keeps abreast of new developments in the field and implements those which would improve the operation of the service.
Performs or monitors safety checks on patients, employees and visitors to comply with the safety standards regarding ferrous objects and cardiac pacemakers prior to those persons entering the environment of the magnetic field.
Monitors the examinations by checking computations, performances, and results of the selected parameters to obtain the best diagnostic computer generated data and images. Sends images to the PACS. Ensures equipment is operated within manufactures guidelines.
Assist with obtaining acceptable images, uploading and charts needed information for ACR renewal.
Prints orders and previous reports to prepare for the next imaging day.

Knowledge:
Professional knowledge of diagnostic technologist principles, practices, concepts, and anatomy of three-dimensional relationships sufficient to perform a full range of duties connected to MRI.
Knowledge of MRI standards to monitor and evaluate work of technologists.
