The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all visitors and staff at the Institute for the Hispanic Family. This includes routine cleaning, minor maintenance, and support for event setups and breakdowns. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in keeping public spaces clean and functional. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES: * Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect all public areas, restrooms, offices, and meeting rooms. * Clean and restock restrooms regularly throughout the day. * Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste according to center procedures. * Checking the outside of the facility and parking area has no hazards and remains orderly, including but not limited to outside trash bins, washing down walkways, alerting management to parking issues, etc. * Ensure vendors complete assigned maintenance tasks as scheduled. * Perform minor maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, hanging items, patching holes, unclogging drains, reporting damage). * Conduct monthly inspections of the building and document findings. * Set up and take down tables, chairs, and equipment for events, classes, or meetings. * Ensure all entrances, hallways, and emergency exits are clean and free of obstructions. * Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisor when restocking is needed. * Follow health and safety protocols, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals. * Lock/unlock facilities as required. * Respond promptly to custodial-related requests or facility emergencies. * Assist with seasonal cleaning and special deep-cleaning projects. * Other duties as assigned. General Duties and Responsibilities Priority Duties and Responsibilities: * Ensure work order assignments and routine cleaning tasks are completed according to established standards * Provide direction to custodians to ensure appropriate level of cleanliness * Ensure all work processes comply with OSHA requirements/regulations and college policies and procedures * Train employees on safe operation of equipment and use of chemicals * Perform QA inspections to ensure cleaning activities meet established standards General Duties and Responsibilities: * Ensure cleaning and maintenance schedules are followed * Coordinate employee work schedules to ensure that manpower needs are satisfied * Execute maintenance and repair of custodial equipment * Perform custodial duties including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, floor finishing, cleaning windows, walls and furniture, restocking supplies, and trash/recycling removal * Properly lock and unlock doors for cleaning purposes; ensure all windows and doors are secured as appropriate when leaving * Set up rooms for various functions using a work order for direction * Operate a service vehicle as required to perform duties * Available for call back and scheduled overtime, as required * Other duties as assigned or as necessary Education and Skills * Requires high school diploma and 1 - 3 years of progressively responsible custodial experience * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Strong analytical skills * Must be detail oriented and able to coordinate work by others * Well-organized, able to work under pressure * Ability to interact well with a variety of people from all areas of the college and community * High integrity needed to handle confidential information * Ability to lift/push/pull 50 pounds. * Knowledge and ability to safely use supplies, equipment, and tools in performing duties * Must have a valid State Driver's License. This role will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in our pharmaceutical manufacturing and office facilities. The Janitor will be responsible for ensuring a sterile environment in compliance with industry hygiene standards, including cleaning production areas, offices, restrooms, and common spaces. This role supports both the operational efficiency and safety of the facility, requiring adherence to strict protocols and the proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Schedule: 2nd Shift - 3:30pm - 12:00am Monday to Friday Essential Functions: * Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the GMP facility in strict accordance with established Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). * Collect and dispose of waste and recyclables from the facility in accordance with proper segregation and recycling procedures * Clean floors, breakrooms, restrooms, and outer production areas using approved cleaning chemicals and equipment in a safe and compliant manner * Maintain appropriate stock levels of paper products in lunchrooms and restrooms to ensure continuous availability and report any maintenance or safety issues to the Facilities Supervisor Additional Responsibilities: * Assist with other areas of facility maintenance * Assist with general upkeep of facility grounds and support special cleaning projects as assigned
