Caritas House is a community for seniors that provides additional services that help our residents remain independent and safe. Our Care Assistants help our residents with their activities of daily living including dressing, personal hygiene, housekeeping, and laundry services. The Care Assistantassists residents who are physically and/or socially impaired and need 24-hour oversight, with activities of daily living, always fostering residents' independence and freedom of choice.
Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Caritas House, is currently seeking a Care Assistant who will assist residents who are physically and/or socially impaired and need 24-hour oversight, with activities of daily living and medication assistance/administration, fostering at all times residents' independence and freedom of choice. The work schedule is Saturday & Sunday, 7:00am-3:30pm, every other weekend.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with daily life activities, including dressing, bathing, and personal hygiene, care for essential devices, and support with tasks like phone use, housekeeping, laundry, and managing mail.
Monitors for environmental safety hazards, disposing of infectious and potentially infectious waste according to residence policy and procedure, and OSHA regulations.
Controls the spread of infection by following standard precautions.
Accurately documents all incidents, errors, and accidents involving residents, staff, or visitors in accordance with agency protocols and regulatory requirements; ensures timely reporting to supervisors and participates in follow-up as needed.
Assists with a variety of dining and housekeeping tasks, including picking up plates, supporting residents during meals, responding to immediate clean-up needs while providing care, and taking appropriate action when identifying housekeeping needs within the facility to ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
Maintains cooperative working relationships with staff and other departments.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to read and write legibly, follow both oral and written instructions, and maintain required confidentiality.
Customer service-oriented, with the ability and willingness to work effectively with a diverse and elderly population.
Flexibility in working hours to meet the needs of resident care.
Reliable transportation for commuting to and from work to ensure punctuality and consistent attendance.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
* Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in good standing with the Maryland Board of Nursing; OR
* Two (2) years of direct elder care experience and demonstrated competency evaluation with first seven (7) days of employment.
* First Aid Certification, within the first six months of employment.
* Food handling, within the first six months of employment.

SUMMARY: The Babysitting Program Manager oversees the daily operations, staffing, safety, and quality of the JCC of Park Heights' Babysitting Program. This role ensures that children receive attentive, nurturing care in a clean, organized, and engaging environment. Parents should feel confident in the safety and professionalism of the service while using the facilities of the JCC.
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
Recruit, train, supervise, and schedule babysitting staff
Maintain a warm, safe, and welcoming environment for children ages [insert age range]
Ensure adherence to all safety, wellness, and facility policies
Oversee daily room setup, activity planning, and clean-up procedures
Communicate with parents in a professional, friendly, and timely manner
Manage check-in and check-out procedures and maintain accurate attendance records
Monitor staffing levels to ensure proper ratios at all times
Collaborate with program leadership to update policies and procedures to enhance the babysitting experience for staff, parents and children
Handle minor incidents, concerns, and parent feedback appropriately
Ensure the room is maintained as a nut-free environment and aligned with JCC standards
Support administrative tasks, including payroll submissions, staff evaluations, inventory and maintenance needs
WHO YOU ARE:
Prior experience working with children and supervising staff
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy environment
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and positive childcare atmosphere
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to spend time sitting and using a computer, sitting with children or on their feet. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The work environment may be fast paced and requires high energy and interaction with others. The workspace may be noisy.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Starting Rate: $20/hour
Weekly Hours: 15-20 hours/week

Ensure the safety and well-being of the students enrolled in the program;
Provide a range of age and ability appropriate programs and activities for children 4 - 12 years of age (programming can include, but is not limited to enrichment activities, homework supervision, athletic and recreational activities);
Develop appropriate intervention strategies and collaboration with school staff;
Communicate with parents, administrators, and school staff about all aspects of program operations;
Coach and evaluate assigned staff;

Lead and participate in professional development opportunities;
Secure, maintain and monitor budget, materials, equipment and other resources belonging to the program;

This position is responsible for caring for the children under direct supervision at a school site before and after school and/or in the summer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Program Management
Insure high quality programming to be compliant with MSDE guidelines and provide a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment for all participants and staff.
Be an active participant in all activities.
Insure all children's safety by following the discipline policy and YMCA Code of Conduct.
Maintain a high safety standard and accident/injury prevention standard.
Work with the site director to insure a high quality program by incorporating a variety of activities designed to promote arts and humanities, character development, health, wellness and fitness, STEM, service learning, homework support, literacy and social competence/conflict resolution.
Take the lead on specific activities as directed by your supervisor to help implement a quality child care program.
Build a warm respectful relationship with all the children and provide a secure environment through supervision while encouraging development of abilities and responsibilities for a child's behavior.
Be at assigned site during all hours of operation throughout the school year and as scheduled during the summer.
Maintain an open and approachable attitude to parents at all times.
Communicate with parents on the positive aspects of the child's day as well as on any behavior issues.
Assist site director in implementing family events quarterly to develop and maintain positive parent and child relationships.
Assist the site director in maintaining positive relationships through open communication between the school, staff and parents.
Administrative
Perform all administrative function as they relate to the BASE department and site operations.
Assist the Site Director in promoting the Y programs with the parents, school and community, ensuring healthy programs.
Assist the Site Director when needed in the completion of administrative duties including but not limited to the following: incident/accident reports, attendance sheets, and USDA food program documents.
Participate in a minimum of one YMCA event throughout the year, not to include volunteer events.
Follow the chain of command as it pertains to programmatic issues.
Participate in and complete staff trainings as needed to enhance all aspects of program delivery and other trainings as directed.
Work directly with Annual Campaign Team to insure annual site goals are met.
Maintain confidentiality in dealing with programmatic issues, staff and participant information and not disseminate it outside of the program.
Comply with the child care dress code while working or representing the YMCA.
Comply with all Paycom procedures.
Maintain a professional image and attitude while working or representing the YMCA.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Must complete 3-clock hour orientation training within 6 months of date of hire which includes proper child supervision, workplace professionalism, and interacting with parents.
Must have exceptional work ethic and strength of character.
