Assists with set-up of equipment, prepares patient for treatment and assists during procedures. Removes post-extraction and periodontal dressings. Assists in the administration of gases; does not adjust the flow of the gases unless instructed to do so by Dentist, who shall be present at the patient's chair-side at the implementation of these instructions. This regulation shall not be construed to prevent any person from taking appropriate action in the event of a medical emergency. Assists with orthodontic procedures such as placing and removing elastic orthodontic separators, taking intra-oral measurements for orthodontic procedures, seating adjusted retainers or headgears, checking for loose bands, removing arch wires and ligature ties. Interacts in a professional manner and works collaboratively with Clinicas' staff and patients. Provides excellent customer service to patients, vendors and employees. May assist patients with mental illness, substance abuse problems and or/emotional disturbance. Job DescriptionTemporary Full-Time Dental Assistant Floater Perform fundamental duties assisting a licensed dentist, perform clerical functions of a dental office; perform related work. Dental Assistant performs a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties in dental offices. They prepare patients for treatment, assure that dental records and instruments are ready for the dentist to use, serve as the dentist assistant at chair-side and keep patients comfortable and relaxed. Maintain all logs required for St. John's Dental equipment, in compliance with prescribed audit tools. Maintain monthly check of Emergency medical kit, Oxygen tanks and oxygen masks (adult and children). Maintain adequate inventory of Dental supplies. Place orders for Dental supplies in accordance to St. John's purchase protocols. Demonstrates oral hygiene care procedure and techniques. Hand instruments and materials to dentists, and keep patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices. Record patient charting and all doctor notes on treatment record. Ensure the doctor signs treatment record consents and healthy history. Act in accordance with those set forth as per the applicable State's Dental Auxiliaries. Clean each operatory in accordance with the American Dental Association guidelines.
