As a Dental Assistant, you will have the opportunity to:
Maintain medical records and vital signs
Conduct complete X-ray procedures and set up for exams
Record periodontal data, perform periodontal care, and administer nitrous oxide
Educate on oral hygiene, assist with infection control, may help with orthodontics, along with other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
BLS certification
Surgical Technologist Registration if assisting a Dentist in the operating room
Dental Assistant Registration or EFDA certification. Dental Assistants who have not received their Dental Assistant registration from the State of Washington will not be allowed to perform the Essential Functions of the job until it is received. Prior to this time, a Dental Assistant will be allowed to observe patient care and assist with paperwork and receptionist roles only.
Dental Assistant Registration must be completed within 7 days of hire unless specifically approved by the Clinic Administrator.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred at level 10
Basic knowledge of medical/dental terminology, dental anatomy, dental materials/instruments, infection control techniques, and oral health care instruction

Responsibilities
Patient Care:
Ensures that operatory and equipment are prepared prior to seating patients. Greets and seats patients utilizing AIDET model. Reviews electronic dental chart ensuring all health history information is updated and vital signs are taken and documented. Ensures that pre-exam documentation including waivers and treatment consents have been completed. Takes vital signs and x-rays at the direction of provider. Charts and documents existing dental restorations and procedures as directed by provider. Prepares and passes instruments and materials during patient care. Administers and monitors Nitrous Oxide; provides prophylaxis cleanings, fluoride and sealants, as prescribed by the provider. Takes and pours alginate impressions and trims models. Provides oral hygiene, post-op and/or referral instructions, as needed. Breaks down operatory after each patient encounter, disinfects and sets room up per protocols.
Non-patient Care:
Ultrasonically cleans contaminated instruments and cassettes, sets up cassettes and pouches by procedure and places in autoclave for sterilization. Cleans sterilization room and HVE system. Performs daily sterilization, organizing and stocking required for up keep and cleaning of HVE system. Maintains logs of daily closing duties and ensures check off lists are completed each afternoon and evening. Performs maintenance of equipment per established checklist and manufacturer's recommendations and notifies supervisor of any malfunction or issues. Responsible for weekly attest sterilization monitoring. Maintains supply inventory at par levels and notifies appropriate personnel of items to be ordered. Empties bio-hazard containers and resets new containers when needed. Teams with Patient Service Representatives to ensure recall and scheduling of patients is done to maximize daily schedules. Other duties as assigned. Promotes a positive work culture and upholds clinic policies and procedures, including the WE CARE standards of Behavior. Must uphold confidentiality at all times in regards to CBHA activities, reports, financials, patient health information and other proprietary information specific to CBHA.
Qualifications
Professional and Technical Knowledge:

Required Qualifications:
+ Coursework/Training and Graduate of an accredited school that includes hands on training in a clinical setting for medical assistants Or
+ Coursework/Training and Graduate of a registered medical assistant apprenticeship program Or
+ Coursework/Training and has completed two years of medical training in the United States Armed Forces Or
+ Coursework/Training and minimum one year of work experience as a medical assistant that includes the following clinical skills: obtaining vital signs, administering injections, and medication administration Or
+ Upon hire: Washington Medical Assistant Certification
+ Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
+ 6 months of Healthcare experience
+ 6 months of Medical Assistant experience
