Essential Skills and Experience
Required Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling; SolidWorks strongly preferred (other packages such as Inventor or Creo considered).
0-2 years of relevant experience (co-op, internship, or academic projects involving machine design are highly valued).

Must have extensive experience with schematic design, footprint/library creation (both SMT & thru-hole components) using IPC Standards, PCB layout using manual routing for multilayer boards, thorough knowledge of SMT packages, generation of design files, involvement in complete documentation package including BOMs, fabrication and assembly drawing.
4. Experience working with Altium, Cadence Allegro, and Hyperlynx for Signal Integrity preferred.
5. Extensive understanding of PCB stack-up requirements based on design complexity and design requirements.
6. Experience is preferred with DDRx, PCIe, MIPI, LVDS interfaces, audio/video, cameras, LCDs, HDMI, PoE, and familiar with transmission line concepts.
7. Experience in DFA, DFM, DFT and EMI - EMC standards as well as processes and design implementation.
8. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills: issue identification, resolution, providing mentorship and guidance to team members.
9. Ability to work in an environment where processes and standards may not be well defined, and to develop and define those standards when required.

Project Engineer
Design engineer job in Columbia City, IN
is open to U.S. Persons only. The Project Engineer is responsible for managing integration, design, and development of brake and clutch products across a wide portfolio. The incumbent will provide technical leadership and support for the refinement and assimilation of products into the Regal Rexnord Business System (RBS) using practices of CI, 80/20, VAVE, and NPD. Candidates likely to succeed in the role will have strong product application for electromechanical products and processes. They will have mastery of product realization and the ability to envision product potential and capability. This collaborative role will provide multiple opportunities to partner across multiple sites in the U.S. and internationally. The position will require occasional travel 5-15% depending upon project needs and core team needs. The role will be based in Columbia City, Indiana and the incumbent reports to the site Engineering Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manages technical content for a highly configured electro-mechanical brake portfolio.
Interacts with engineers, sales, product managers, operations, end customers and other cross functional roles to translates needs into product definition.
Leads the design and integration of new and established products for targeted growth verticals and key customers.
Interacts with sales team and customers to resolve application issues with occasional travel when needed.
Takes responsibility for and completes key tasks on a project-by-project basis. Drives to meet deadlines ensuring customer success.
Creates test plans to validate design concepts and material or manufacturing changes, summarizing results and documenting conclusions with other engineers.
Resolve challenges related to the interpretation of drawings, design tolerances, quality and material requirements based upon application needs.
Works closely with operations team members to establish KPI's and other work standards.
Conducts portfolio analysis of incumbent, new and competitor clutches and brakes.
Active observer and steward to assure products are applied and maintained in diverse and challenging environments.
Project management leader, facilitator or contributor responsibilities at any given time.

Understanding of Engineering BOMs and drawings.
Working familiarity with CRM, PDM, and SolidWorks CAD software preferred.
Proficient in MS Office.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills that convey visualization with concise and clear explanation.
Experience working in a cross-functional, collaborative environment and/or global centers of excellence.
Experience working in an ISO-9001-2015 environment.
Possession of a thorough understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and able to effectively problem solve, prioritize, and execute tasks with a sense of urgency.
Experience in high reliability, industrial automation or export-controlled products desirable.
