PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
DieselMechanics (Machinists) complete preventative and scheduled maintenance on locomotives in a fast paced, safety oriented environment in compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined and excels at complex troubleshooting.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Maintain, inspect, service, test and repair all systems on locomotives
Diagnose diesel engine malfunctions and make repairs within regulatory and company guidelines
Complete work in accordance with blueprints, schematic drawings and service manuals
Evaluation of parts for reuse, repair or replacement
Non-structural welding, adjustment and calibration to mechanical components

I. General Job Description

Responsibilities
Complete repairs in estimated time per industry standards.
Grow and maintain the customer base
Perform DOT inspection, troubleshooting, and repair on all areas of a vehicle including electrical, charging systems, starting systems, engine, HVAC, powertrain, and chassis components.
Repairs include diagnosis and removal of injectors, cylinder heads, camshafts, main bearings, rod bearings, and transmission/clutch components.
Utilize various diagnostic equipment, software, and technical publications/information to determine root cause of customer complaint and repair solution.
Maintain service truck, supplied tooling, and parts inventory to Company's expectation.
Provide thorough documentation that supports complaint, cause, and correction.
Perform preventative maintenance when requested.
Respond promptly to customer requests and foster customer relationships.
Report to customer and service administration on any deferred repairs.
Flexibility to be available after hours and alternate days.
II. Minimum Job Qualifications
18 years of age.
4 years of dealer experience as a Diesel/Service Technician.
Valid Commercial Driver's License and a qualified MVR abstract.
Minimum tool requirements (see below).
III. Desired Job Qualifications
High school graduate or GED with 5 years of experience in a truck dealership or equivalent experience.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Great customer service skills.

Job Family: FACILITY SECURITY
Routinely makes decisions that affect the entire hospital regarding air conditioning, heating and electrical distribution. Is responsible for operating all power plant equipment at optimum efficiency with little or no down time except for extreme conditions. Performs minor maintenance functions to keep the plant operational. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Job Responsibilities
Performs daily system/equipment rounds through subbasement, penthouses, and equipment rooms throughout hospital to document status, performs repairs as abilities allow and reports issues and concerns to supervisor and plant operator. 20%
Serves as a relief Power Plant Operator as need arises. Operates steam generation system and chilled water system at optimum efficiency with little or no unplanned down time. Operates co-generation system at optimum efficiency knowing how to transfer to back-up system in case of emergency with little or no disruption of power. Operates and monitors energy management computer any related systems. Is familiar with switchgears for electrical distribution system located in Power Plant. Performs preventive maintenance tasks as assigned by routine log or preventive maintenance cards. Tasks include lubrication, water testing, cleaning, painting, minor adjustments. 20 %
