Upper Valley Excavation is looking for a skilled, dependable DieselMechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of diesel trucks, heavy machinery, and trailers. About the Role:
Youll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of equipment critical to our excavation operations, including:
Diesel vehicles (dump trucks, semis, service trucks)
Heavy equipment (excavators, skid steers, rollers, etc.)
Trailers (side dumps, pup trailers, transport trailers, etc.)
Responsibilities:
Diagnose, service, and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, and trailer systems
Maintain service logs, oil change intervals, and equipment hour tracking
Perform preventative maintenance on all vehicles and equipment
Keep detailed, organized records of all repairs and maintenance performed
Ensure tools and shop areas are clean and safe
Coordinate with team leads to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience working on diesel engines and heavy equipment
Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills
Experience with side dump trailers and trailer brake systems preferred
Must be reliable, self-motivated, and safety-conscious
Excellent record-keeping and communication skills

You'll work in two locations throughout the year: performing preventive maintenance at our Snowville, UT plant during the off-season, and leading equipment readiness and overnight support during harvest season on Stansbury Island. This role is critical to ensuring our diesel-powered fleet and specialized equipment operate efficiently in harsh saltwater environments.

Key Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and mechanical repairs on a range of diesel-powered equipment, including: gradalls, forklifts, generators, tractors, telehandlers, pumps, vehicles, and ATVs
Lead and coordinate seasonal equipment prep and daily readiness during harvest season
Inspect engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and mechanical components for wear and saltwater corrosion
Troubleshoot diesel systems and implement timely, effective repairs
Oversee and track parts ordering, inventory levels, and vendor delivery coordination
Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance records, and repair documentation
Support overnight operations during harvest by prepping equipment for daily fieldwork
Follow and enforce all safety protocols and environmental compliance procedures
Provide leadership to junior techs or temporary seasonal support staff as needed
Experience & Qualifications
3+ years of dieselmechanic experience required
Prior experience managing mechanics or maintenance operations preferred
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills in off-road and diesel-powered systems
Proven ability to work independently, follow procedures, and adapt to changing needs
High attention to detail in documentation and equipment inspection
Comfortable working in a seasonal, shift-based environment, including overnight support during harvest
Willingness to travel seasonally between work locations (housing provided)
Open to additional technical training and certifications as needed

ResponsibilitiesAs a Midas automotive technician, you'll be exposed to and have responsibility for performing a wide range of diagnostics, repairs and maintenance, including:
Diagnostics using state-of-the-art computer systems
Tires and tire repair
Car heating and air conditioning
Steering and suspension
Belts and hoses
Radiator and engine cooling systems
Batteries, starting and charging
Steering and suspension
Brakes and brake repair
Oil changes
Check engine light
Mufflers and exhaust services
Visual safety and courtesy inspections
Qualifications
Ability to repair vehicles independently, while also having experience working well in a team environment
Knowledge in automotive brakes, exhaust, suspension, & engine diagnostics
Track record of high personal productivity
Knowledge of, and adherence to, safety and environmental standards for repair facilities
Experience using shop equipment such as lifts, tire changing equipment, alignment machines and scan tools
High School Diploma or equivalent - technical degree a definite plus
State-specific auto repair certifications
Valid driver's license
Own tools/equipment (diagnostic scanner / tools preferred also)
Able to service both foreign and domestic vehicles

Here's what you'll be doing:
Perform the work on each repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership, state and factory standards
Address the customer's basic maintenance needs, repair and quality control to attain Fixed First Visit expectations
Perform the electronic Multi Point Inspection on every vehicle
Perform an on the rack alignment inspection and complete an alignment if necessary.
Notify the Service team immediately if the car has more/fewer problems than initial quote and of any adjustments to completion time
Master our Dealer Management System (Dealertrack) for time keeping, work distribution, electronic inspections, repair quotes and communication
Keep your work space in ship shape and can account for all dealership-owned tools at all times

Learn and maintain knowledge of all brand/factory technical bulletins
