Replaces locomotive and diesel engine components including, but not limited to wheels or trucks, traction motors, sprints, couplers, draft gear assembly, gear cases, cylinder heads, air compressor, and turbo chargers. Perform daily service of locomotive units: sands, waters, lubricates, and oils; wipe down and cleans unit and windows. Operate electrical and gas welding equipment to join a variety of metals and alloys; operate acetylene torches for cutting and/or shaping metal parts such as aluminum, cast iron, steel. Comply with company safety policies and procedures; must wear required personal protective equipment. Handle environmental issues in appropriate manner (e.g. proper disposal of filter oil, diesel fuel or other materials.
