Minimum Qualifications
Less than 2 years related experience

Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to safely operate lift trucks.
Preferred Qualifications
Good mechanical and electrical aptitudes, knowledge of electrical/electronic systems and hydraulics and internal combustion engines, and the ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.
Good written/verbal communication and customer care skills.
Technical degree, previous lift truck repair, welding experience, and knowledge of various types of testing equipment preferred.

Position Overview
The Mechanic: Small Engine / Generator Specialist is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a range of generator systems, including gasoline, diesel, and propane-powered units. This includes preventative maintenance, warranty claim documentation, and both shop- and field-based service. The role requires strong troubleshooting skills in both mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to communicate findings and solutions clearly to customers and team members.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair small engines, including gasoline, diesel, and propane-powered generators.
Perform preventative maintenance and servicing on a variety of generator models.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical system issues quickly and accurately.
Complete detailed warranty documentation, including service reports and parts usage.
Communicate professionally with customers to explain diagnostics and repair options.
Maintain an organized, safe, and clean work area.
Stay current with manufacturer updates, service bulletins, and technical training.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications Required:
Experience in small engine repair (generators, mowers, power equipment, or similar).
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for both mechanical and electrical systems.
Ability to complete accurate and detailed paperwork for warranty claims.
Excellent customer service and communication skills. Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varied weather conditions.
Preferred:
Manufacturer certifications (Kohler, Generac, or similar).
Experience with residential and commercial generator systems.
Basic electrical knowledge, including wiring and controls.
Work Schedule
Monday-Friday, standard hours; overtime as needed for urgent repairs.
Primarily shop-based with occasional road calls.
