DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Has operational knowledge of the Louisiana Components of Effective Teaching and can utilize the knowledge to implement effective programs at the school level in compliance with Title I of the No Child Left Behind Act. * Provides courteous, professional, and prompt services to all internal and external customers including students, parents, co-workers, etc. * Reports regularly and punctually within the time frame established by the Transportation Department. * Safely transports his/her assigned students at each of his/her respective schools. * Notifies the Transportation Department and the principal or designated person of impending absences, tardiness, or mechanical failure or reason. * Secures substitute driver and/or rental bus when needed. * Ensures that other drivers in the event of breakdown cover route and rental bus is not available. * Reports rental bus to Transportation Department for insurance purposes. * Completes accurately and timely all reports or other papers requested by the Transportation Department of School Board. * Conducts two pre-trip inspections daily, keeping trip sheet on bus ready for reference upon request. * Submits monthly pre-trip inspections' sheet in a timely manner. * Accepts and runs additional routes as directed by the Transportation Department. * Maintains a mechanical safe, neat, and clean vehicle in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. * Accurately records and reports mileage whenever requested to do so or when there is a change in a route. * Notifies parents of any schedule change, such as time and stop location. * Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of state and local laws and local ordinances governing motor vehicle operations. * Notifies Transportation Department immediately of all accidents or incidents. * Attends and actively participates in all meetings or in-service training program as per mandatory requirements. * Maintains an acceptable driving record in private vehicles as well as in the school bus. * Establish proper techniques of passenger management and follow discipline procedures as established by the Louisiana Department of Education (See School Board Behavior Report). * Maintain good public relations with students, parents, and school administrators. * Conform to Louisiana law concerning the safety and welfare of assigned pupils. * Must be in good health. * Must have psychical strength adequate to maneuver the bus passengers. * Job requires long periods of sitting in the same position. * Must be mentally alert at all times while operating the bus. * Total concentration required while driving, loading, and unloading students. * Must be able to perform job duties in both good and inclement weather conditions. * Performs all other duties commensurate with the fulfillment of responsibilities of a school bus driver as assigned by the St. Helena Parish School Board and the Director of Transportation. * Any other duties as deemed necessary.

Maintain accurate records regarding their bus and children who are being transported. The record-keeping includes: Accident reports Pre- and post-trip inspections for the operation of the vehicle Regular ongoing maintenance records Contact information for release of a child to a parent or guardian Establish written fixed bus routes and if necessary, alternate routes Collaborate with the Bus Monitor to teach children safe riding practices and safety procedures on and off the bus. Maintain their assigned vehicle and ensure that appropriate safety inspections have been completed for its operation as required by state laws. Must have an annual evaluation that includes an on-board observation of their performance while driving a bus route. Perform minor repairs, as necessary, to ensure safe facilities. Responsible for completion of Maintenance/Work requests in a timely manner and submitting completed orders to Supervisor. Responsible for setting up facility for special activities in a timely manner. Assist in moving supplies, furniture or equipment as needed. Responsible for data management of transportation and designated areas. Assist in the avoidance or appearance of fraud and ensure compliance in the Transportation area and the overall management of the Center. NON- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Respects confidentiality in all aspects of the Head Start program. Must be willing to participate in all training designed for professional development. Able to handle stress, tension and exasperation that contact with many children and adults may bring every day. May be called upon to administer first aid to children or staff at any time in the program. The incidental nature of this circumstance effectively establishes first aid as a collateral duty, rather than a primary one. Key Responsibilities: Safe and efficient delivery of concrete to customers at job sites Maneuver truck into loading position for filling at the plant(s) and unloading positions at job sites Operate mixer to produce concrete from sand, gravel, cement and water; adjust mixture (slump) as requested by customers, QC Manager/Techs, or Sales Team before leaving the plant and at job sites Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, report any issues or concerns to Fleet manager and/or mechanics Fill out delivery paperwork, collect payment from customers when required and keep records of daily activities; ensure customers sign appropriate paperwork at the time of delivery Driver is responsible for the clean and professional appearance of truck Must fuel up truck after last delivery for the day to ensure seamless operations the following day Requirements Qualifications: All Ready-mix Truck Drivers must have at time of hire and maintain throughout employment an up-to-date DOT Physical 3+ years with either a Class A or Class B CDL; previous experience with a ready mix cement truck or other similar power take-off vehicles is preferred Drivers must be registered with the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse Drivers must have a clean FMCSA Pre-employment Screening with no DUI's or DWI's in the last 5 years and no more than 2 moving violations in the previous 2 years TWIC card is a plus Physical Requirements: Drivers must be physically and mentally able to drive safely; fatigue, medications, and physical injuries may inhibit a driver's ability to safety operate Commercial Vehicle Must pass pre-employment drug screen Must wear all appropriate PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, masks, seat belt and steel toe boots) when performing safety sensitive duties or in certain areas of plant or job site.
