We're looking for Emergency Room RNs for an immediate travel nurse opening in Bakersfield, CA. The right RN should have 1-2 years recent acute care experience. Read below for more requirements. As an ER Travel Nurse, you will work with a diverse team of caregivers to appropriately evaluate, triage and implement care using correct procedures and physician instructions. RNs should have experience and skill caring for patients in a fast-paced, urgent and emergency environment.
Emergency Room RNs will perform minor medical operations, advise patients and family on illnesses or injuries, and plan long-term care needs. Other responsibilities as an ER Travel Nurse include documenting medical history, checking for any allergies patients might have, obtaining patient vital signs, and monitoring patients' emotional and physical well-being.
As an ER Travel Nurse, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:
Provide basic bedside care.
Clean and bandage wounds.
Provide IV therapy.
Maintain supplies and medical equipment.
Report suspected abuse to appropriate agencies.
ER Travel Nurses should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean and stoop without difficulty. RNs should be able to easily lift 20 pounds. Moving or lifting of patients may require lifting of up to 50 pounds at times. Because of the fast-paced environment, Emergency Room RNs must possess good skills for coping with stress and be able to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.

Investigates and resolves patient care and operational issues, as needed. Initiates and coordinates individual and team conferences with health team members, patients, and/or families to initiate and revise care plans for optimal, individualized patient care as per care setting.
* Assesses the personnel requirements of the unit on a daily basis and requests additional personnel when determines they are necessary. Authorizes and assigns overtime to personnel when independently determines this to be appropriate. Completes monthly unit staff schedule on time, accurately, and in collaboration with staff members and management with minimal incidents of absence or unbalanced/short staffing events.
* Facilitates throughput through early discharge of patients, pull-ahead beds, and timely admission/transfer of patients and forecasting admission. Works with facility services to assure that the department and equipment is maintained to be safe and operational. Prevents complications of care including nosocomial infections. Conducts emergency preparedness reviews.

As a TELE Travel Nurse, you will provide care by connecting patients to machines that measure heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate, as well as blood-oxygen levels and electrocardiogram information. These machines then send data to computer screens for RNs to monitor. Telemetry RNs read and interpret the data to better determine patient care.
As a TELE Travel Nurse, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:
Provide basic bedside care.
Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
Identify irregular telemetry readings and notify appropriate medical team members.
Initiate corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
TELE Travel Nurses should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean and stoop without difficulty. RNs should be able to easily lift 20 pounds. Moving or lifting of patients may require lifting of up to 50 pounds at times. RNs must have specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
