Shift: 7:00am - 4:30pm Mon - Fri Here is a glimpse of what you'll do: Define equipment maintenance requirements, identify root-causes of equipment failures and develop hands-on maintenance skills Experience in Stamping, Welding, Laser cutting and Press Break Work with other engineering stakeholders and customers on problem solving and continuous improvement to the design of equipment and products and may develop corrective and preventive action plans Develop new manufacturing processes, including layouts, PFD, PFMEA, CP, work instructions and training materials. Design special assembly tools, fixtures and equipment to be used for the assembly processes Develop detail drawings with tolerances and proper material call out for assembling tools, fixtures and equipment. Designing new systems and processes for the introduction of new products or for the improvement of existing ones. Install equipment, fixtures, specialty assembly tools, product lift assists and storage devices. Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service. Analyzes and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Meet with production group concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods. Coordinates with customers to determine product specifications and design changes and responds to customer requests. Provides information for management decisions from a technical and technical cost perspective. Meet with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential. Plan utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations. Analyze work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, process flow diagrams, and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment. Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment. Troubleshoot daily manufacturing issues. Here is some of what you'll need: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Manufacturing Engineering 3+ years of relevant experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment Computer skills include, but are not limited to: MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project); AutoCAD, 3D CAD software, SolidWorks', Draft Sight Lean manufacturing methodologies and principles is desired. 5+ years with project management skills are preferred. As a Nuclear Reactors Engineer, youll be responsible for researching, designing, maintaining, operating and regulating the nuclear reactors and power plants that drive the most advanced fleet of submarines and aircraft carriers on Earth. RESPONSIBILITIES Naval Reactors Engineers have oversight of the Navy's entire fleet of nuclear-powered ships as well as shore-based prototypes and nuclear propulsion support facilities for Americas Navy. The wide array of technical areas involved in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion program include: Reactor and fluid systems design Reactor physics Materials development Component design such as steam generators, pumps and valves Instrumentation and control of reactor, steam and electric plants Testing and quality control Shielding Chemistry and radiological controls As a Navy Reactors Engineer stationed at Naval Reactors Headquarters in Washington, D.C., you will provide technical oversight while managing projects ranging from reactor design to fleet operations to de-fueling and decommissioning warships. Applicants may also join the NUPOC program as early as 12 months from completion of a master's degree. Additional academic requirements include: Completed one academic year of calculus Completed one academic year of calculus-based physics A competitive GPA and a minimum grade of "B" in all technical courses General qualifications may vary depending upon whether youre currently serving, whether youve served before or whether youve never served before. WORK ENVIRONMENT Preliminary training and eventual staff assignments center around Naval Reactors Headquarters at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. At Headquarters, you will be a part of an elite, streamlined staff of roughly 500 people who oversee the entire Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program from cradle to grave.
