The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Staff Engineering Technician, under general supervision, performs advanced functions requiring technical knowledge and use of electronic applications, standards, and document control processes/procedures in support of creating or modifying deliverables. This role will be responsible for the development of site drainage, grading, and utility plans using Autodesk Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation. This role will be within the Governments & Water Utilities (G&Wu) group, supporting client needs related to water, wastewater, linear pipelines, and other water-related solutions. Functions in a project engineering technician capacity. Under general direction, supports engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables. Applies foundational engineering principles and established design practices to create moderately complex design concepts and solutions. Utilises digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables. Provides technical guidance and may offer direction to other engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality and consistency across project outputs.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Applies knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes, and client policies and procedures.
May review project requirements and accurately determine the correct format and contents of the required deliverables.
Proactively applies the client Quality Program to deliverables. Demonstrates personal accuracy and supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
Reviews design inputs to ensure consistency. Assists to ensure deliverables are in compliance with the specific codes and standards suitable for the project.
May apply basic engineering principles and established design practices in developing moderately complex design concepts and deliverables. Begins to apply judgment and make decisions with respect to deliverables and input interpretation.
Capable of handling difficult technical assignments within an area of expertise and can provide technical guidance to other professionals.
Performs design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and records.
May review the deliverables of others.
May define work assignments and maintain schedules.
May program control systems or participate in other plant start-up activities associated with a specialized area of expertise.
Coordinates with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for design development.

Qualifications:
Advanced Autodesk Civil 3D is required with the use of pipe/pressure networks, proposed grading surfaces, and plan and profile development.
Must be familiar with plan & profile drawings, alignments, pipe networks, and grading.
Typically, a minimum of 5 years of related work experience.

Responsibilities
POSITION OUTLINE:
The objective of the Engineering Intern is to prepare for the heavy civil construction industry. This is accomplished through field and office experiences working alongside Civil, Mechanical and Environmental Engineers in a dynamic hands-on program.
Safety:
Assist and prepare in giving Tool Box Safety Talks, Daily Safety Huddles and maintain records
Assist in One Call Center requests to ensure no utilities are damaged during construction activities
Maintain a retrievable filing system for the Hazardous Communication Program - MSDS
Maintain the Project Safety Manual, make periodic jobsite safety inspections and record file all findings
Payments:
Perform daily Quantity Review with Superintendent and Job Foreman
Enter daily quantities into system and file daily sheets
Track completion of work on project plans
Perform monthly review of estimates with job Superintendent
Notify Project Manager or Area Manager of anticipated overruns/under runs
Daily Logs:
Maintain General correspondence file with correspondence log
Maintain Shop Drawing Log
Maintain Subcontractor daily log
Maintain Delivery log
Accurately track Asphalt and other major materials that are delivered
Certified Payroll, EEO, Trainee Reports:
Track all subcontractors that worked on the project for the month utilizing the Subcontractor daily log.
Enter daily payroll information by specific task and assist in productivity tracking
Miscellaneous:
Maintain Job Records
Track Job Codes using Phase Code System
Maintain the Request for Information (RFI) to the owner
Assist in the purchase of job materials to ensure the proper quantities are delivered
Assist in estimating additional work
Review project plans and assist in ensuring work in completed properly

The GE Aerospace facility in McAllen is one of our centers of expertise specializing in the repair of engine components used in commercial and military aircraft. These include LPT Nozzles, HPT Nozzles, and HPT Hangars. You'll find state of the art technologies in CNC, EDM, and Coating as well as advanced technology development within our new Tech Lab.
McAllen, Texas, combines a warm climate and affordable living with a robust retail hub at La Plaza Mall. It's internationally recognized for birding-spot Red-crowned Parrots and Green Jays at Quinta Mazatlán and Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park-and features a vibrant arts scene and cross-border cultural ties across the Rio Grande Valley.
Individuals selected for this internship will have the responsibility and authority to carry out all assigned tasks
Essential Responsibilities:
Read work orders, formulas, and processing charts to determine specifications and sequence of operations.
Weigh and measure specified ingredients and binding agents.
Mix and grind materials.
Load and unload parts, monitor operations, and adjust controls of various
processing machines and equipment to prepare, combine, or alter materials to achieve specific component properties.
Clean materials as required before processing operations.
Inspect, measure, and test components to ensure they meet specifications.
Enclose components in housings and stamp or etch identifying information on finished components.
Count, sort, and weigh processed items.
Maintain accurate manual or computerized records of production and inspection data.
Adhere to all safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out, reporting safety concerns, using appropriate PPE, and following all safety practices.
Ensure all products meet quality assurance standards.
Basic Qualifications:
Active Military personnel on their last 180 days before separation
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English, with the ability to interpret and follow written procedures (e.g., AWI), complete documentation, and follow verbal instructions.
Must pass physical, background, and drug screenings.
Desired Characteristics:
At least 1 year of experience and/or training in a related manufacturing or production environment.
Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and identify process improvements.
Strong teamwork skills and willingness to collaborate effectively with others
Commitment to following and promoting safe work practices.
Effective communication skills
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Duties:
* Remotely assist with installs, troubleshooting, and repairs of network, desktop, and voice equipment.
* Monitor and troubleshoot data circuits; escalate issues to vendors as needed.
* Track and resolve tickets in the Helpdesk system.
* Document and manage IT equipment inventory.
* Install and support IT devices, including PCs, servers, VoIP, mobility devices, and infrastructure.
* Assist in IT projects, including research, configuration, and deployment.
* Coordinate IT moves, adds, and changes across yards and offices.
* Update project documentation in Copart's SharePoint.
* Determine and design infrastructure wiring on floor plans.
* Work with vendors to obtain quotes and manage IT purchases.
* Verify IT equipment arrivals and conduct inventory checks.
* Survey sites and report discrepancies.
* Ensure telecommunications circuits and phone lines are operational.
* Expedite Telecom issues and assist with IT installations.
* Conduct connectivity tests for all IT equipment.
* Resolve IT issues on opening day of new sites.
* Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
* Basic knowledge of telecommunications, LAN cabling, and data circuits.

Typical Tasks Involve:
* Support continuous improvement and process engineering initiatives across manufacturing/operations
* Conduct time studies and work observations to document current-state processes
* Assist with process audits, standard work verification, and compliance checks
* Collect, analyze, and visualize operational data (cycle time, throughput, waste, KPIs)
* Support implementation of Lean tools (6S, Kanban, SMED, value stream mapping, A3s)
* Co-lead or support Kaizen events, problem-solving workshops, improvement projects, and lean training sessions
* Prepare presentations and reports summarizing findings, recommendations, and results
