A.I.S., Inc. (AIS) is a national scientific services firm supporting maritime activities requiring certification of compliance with environmental regulations as well as collecting data for use by Federal, State, Municipal, and other government agencies along the US coastline. AIS is looking for Marine Biologists (At-Sea Monitors) to work at sea collecting and recording data and biological samples for the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFCS) aboard commercial fishing vessels.
The primary goals of Northeast federal fishery observation programs are to provide quantitative biological, vessel, and gear-selectivity information for various New England and Mid-Atlantic fisheries. The At-Sea Monitor program focuses specifically on the groundfish industry, a grouping of fish that includes many commonly consumed fish such as cod, haddock and various flounder species. Each fishery observer or monitor operates on commercial fishing vessels operating in ports throughout New England and the Mid-Atlantic. If you ever wanted to make a difference, this is how.
Commercial fishing dates back hundreds of years. Today commercial fishing continues to be possible due to cooperation between fishermen and fisheries management scientists like yourself. In order to facilitate that cooperation, marine biologists collect data pertaining to fishing programs, economics, catch data, and fishing efficiency. At-Sea Monitors record detailed information on the gear and fishing activity of the vessels. Monitors work on deck on vessels ranging from 20' to 100' on trips roughly ranging from 1 to 14 days collecting data on fish catch and discard and incidental takes such as marine mammals, seabirds, and marine turtles. After attending a 3-week paid training in-person training in Falmouth, MA monitors are deployed from ports throughout New England and Mid-Atlantic states. Gear types assessed include, trawl, gillnet, longline and handline.
Accommodations and meal reimbursement during in person session of training are provided. Training includes instructions on sampling protocols, gear, fisheries, fish identification, marine mammal/sea turtle identification, and safety.
This is a challenging job, and candidates must be mentally prepared to be away from home for multiple days, and must be physically able to handle heavy lifting, working odd hours, and long days in rough seas. Observing provides an excellent career in marine biology, as observers and monitors are widely recognized as being excellent field biologists. A broad range of advancement opportunities are available to those who demonstrate appropriate capabilities. Those opportunities include, but are not limited to, project management, field supervisors, and fieldwork in other programs.
Compensation: Monitors' starting pay is $19.00/hour. Dependent on enrollment in our H&W benefit, biologists may also be eligible for an additional $4.57/hour for the first 40 hours worked on each calendar week for a total of $23.57 hour. This is a full-time position with benefits. Annually, monitors earn between $35K - $55K a year dependent on their availability to deploy offshore and their personal sea day accomplishments. Monitors will be paid a minimum of 12 hours for each calendar day offshore and are also eligible for additional compensable activities while on land.
AIS benefits package includes health and dental insurance, vacation, sick and holiday benefits. Potential additional compensation consists of Data quality bonuses, Service awards, Fitness center reimbursement, Candidate Referral bonus.
Travel is reimbursed at an hourly rate along with compensation for miles accrued on a personal vehicle as well as per diem at the specified Government rate.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma is required.
Experience with data entry on computers.
Monitor candidates must be U.S. citizens, or be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Candidates must be physically able, as determined by a licensed physician's certification to perform observer duties.
Your own transportation is required.
Candidates are expected to commit to the program for at least one year.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field from an accredited college or university with 30 credits of biology coursework, 6 credits of marine science is preferred.
At least one undergraduate course in math or statistics preferred.
At-sea experience
Coursework in Dichotomous Keys
Experience collecting Field Data and entering databases.

About the role
Job Description
Reworld is seeking a self-motivated, hardworking, and detail-oriented EnvironmentalTechnician to join our Environmental Division. This role offers the opportunity to work both in the office and in the field, supporting a wide range of environmental projects. An environmental background is beneficial but not required - we're looking for individuals eager to learn, grow, and contribute to meaningful work that supports our sustainability mission.
Role Responsibilities:
Act as a liaison between the Project Manager and field staff, ensuring clear communication and coordination throughout project execution.
Assist Project Managers with daily administrative and project tasks, including preparing job estimates, proposals, environmental documents, client invoices, and insurance certifications.
Coordinate division meetings and provide progress updates on active projects.
Complete and assist with environmental reports such as Environmental Risk Assessments, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, and other required documentation.
Perform soil and groundwater sampling and assist with Phase II Site Investigations and Phase III Remediation Projects.
Operate and maintain environmental equipment including PIDs and other sampling instruments.
Supervise storage tank remediation projects and support field teams with remediation efforts.
Review and interpret analytical laboratory reports, assist in waste profiling and characterization, and ensure proper disposal approvals.
Develop and maintain project-specific documentation, including manifests, daily logs, permits, and Health & Safety Plans.
Conduct site inspections and help facilitate daily tailgate safety meetings in the field.
What You Bring to the Team:
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in both field and office environments.
Familiarity with environmental sampling, remediation, or reporting is a plus (training provided).

Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
1. GS-7: You must have completed or will complete a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's from an accredited institution AND must have documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level in the following:
a) Grade Point Average 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; OR 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in your major field or the required courses in your major field completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum.
2. GS-9: You must have completed 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree:

Position Summary
The job site for this position is located in Marlborough, MA, and is a manufacturing and research site that is part of the Semiconductor Technologies business with the Electronics and Industrial division. On their behalf, we are seeking a motivated professional Environmental Specialist to lead site environmental compliance, environmental improvement programs, and be a key member of the Site Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) Team. The site employs approximately 450 employees and a large number of support contractors. The site is a world-class manufacturing facility providing chemistries that enable the semiconductor and electronics industries to develop next-generation devices.
Position Responsibilities
Serve as the technical expert on matters relating to the site's air pollution control, water and waste infrastructure, associated regulatory compliance programs, and emissions.
Prepare permit applications including renewals and modifications.
Interpret local, state, and federal environmental regulations then develop and implement environmental compliance programs, inspections, and guidance documents to ensure site compliance.
Verify the accuracy of emission calculations and estimates for routine emissions as well as maintenance, startup, and shutdown emissions.
Maintain and submit accurate compliance reports and records.
Develop and provide technical guidance and best practices to various departments regarding their responsibilities to the environmental program.
Monitor and report environmental compliance metrics on program effectiveness to the site leadership team and associated teams
Collaborate with Engineering and Operations during the design and installation phase of facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Build effective relationships with regulatory bodies, laboratories, and service providers for the regulatory compliance program.
Host regulatory site visits and inspections.
Drive incident investigations to identify the root causes and corrective/preventive actions.
Conduct internal 1st Party Audits and Field Environmental Assessments to ensure compliance with company Standards and Federal, State, and Local regulations.
Develop and deliver professional meeting presentations to stakeholders including regulators and other officials.
Be a visual presence on the production floor and provide counsel, advice, and support to other functions on all safety, health, and environmental and security-related matters.
Ensure compliance with company and site policies.
Supports the management of change (MOC) process as a change owner, subject matter specialist (safety), and change action owner.
Conduct facility training sessions as it relates to Air, Water, and Waste regulations to ensure compliance and enhanced awareness.
Minimum Qualifications:

Preparation of chemical and biological waste for shipment and disposal, including creation of all federal/state waste documents and managing the paperwork for the material.
