The Environmental Field Laborer (Field Tech) must be able to work in compliance on various remediation and industrial maintenance projects. They must adhere to and maintain strict compliance with corporate/office policies and procedures, established health and safety protocols, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Execution of field work encompassed in remediation and industrial maintenance projects while under direct or indirect supervision. Job Description We are working with an Am Law 200 firm seeking an associate with at least four years of environmental law experience to join their Hartford, CT (preferred) or New Haven, CT office. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience advising clients on complex environmental and regulatory matters in Connecticut, including environmental transactions and due diligence, regulatory compliance and enforcement, permitting, site remediation, state environmental regulations across all media, and risk mitigation related to real estate development and business transactions. Experience with environmental administrative proceedings, litigation, and enforcement matters before state, federal, and local environmental regulatory agencies is preferred. Experience with key federal environmental, health, and safety statutes and regulations; emerging contaminants and evolving regulatory standards; Massachusetts and New York state requirements; international chemical regulation and remedial obligations; and engagement with environmental regulatory bodies, including the Connecticut Siting Council, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Army Corps of Engineers is desirable. Primary responsibilities will include performing various inspections and field work. Under the mentoring and management of a Project Manager, this professional will be responsible for projects that support regulatory compliance and construction activities relating to hazardous building materials (asbestos, lead-based paint, PCBs, etc.), soil, groundwater, radon, and indoor air quality; and the preparation of reports and other project related documents. JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum requirements for this position include an Associate of Science degree (Bachelor of Science degree preferred) from an accredited college or university in fields of environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, or other related fields. Three to five years (or more) of experience working in the environmental consulting/management industry preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required for this position. Completion of a 40 hour OSHA HAZWOPER training program and current Connecticut Department of Public Health Asbestos Project Monitor, Asbestos Inspector/Management Planner, Asbestos Designer, Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor certifications/licenses would be considered a plus.
