What You Will Do Clean and reset company vehicles and equipment: Wash and detail trucks, trailers, and machinery to keep equipment in good working order and ready for the next day's use. Perform basic equipment checks: Check fluids like oil and coolant, and do simple walk-around inspections to help spot any issues early. Assist with preventative maintenance tasks: Grease moving parts, fuel equipment, and complete quick, daily upkeep steps to support the mechanics and field teams. Move equipment and vehicles around the yard: Safely drive and park trucks, trailers, tractors, and other equipment within company property to help crews reset for the next day. Load equipment and materials: Prepare trucks and trailers for field crews by carefully loading and securing equipment using chains, straps, and other methods to prevent shifting during transport. Review and prepare daily load requests: Work with managers and supervisors to confirm what's needed for the next day's projects and ensure everything is prepped and staged for smooth morning departures. Keep the yard and staging areas organized: Help maintain an orderly, efficient workspace so field teams can quickly find what they need. Support a smooth end-of-day process: Be a key team member helping reset and prepare operations as crews return in the evening, creating a seamless handoff for the next day's shift. Pitch in where needed: support the team with other duties to keep field operations running smoothly. What You Will Need To Be Successful Must be available to work full-time, 2nd shift (3:00-11:00pm Monday-Thursday & 10:00am-6:00pm Sunday). Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movements throughout the shift. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.     Fairview has an immediate opening for a Driver/Material Handler at the University of MN West Bank Campus located in Minneapolis, MN. This is a casual role, meaning there are no scheduled shifts, and this role is not eligible for benefits. The Driver/Material Handler transports and distributes sterile product and material between the System Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) and other Fairview entities. Transports contaminated instruments to System CSSD for decontamination. Loads and unloads transfer carts. Bar code scans instrument sets and instruments per policy. **Responsibilities** + Ensures the delivery and receipt of CPC instrumentation, linen metal ware and sterile products among the Fairview entities. + Loads onto and unloads equipment from delivery vehicle. + Delivers supplies and carts to designated areas within the hospitals. + Utilizes power pallet jack for movement of heavy materials. + Verifies materials contents against surgical case cart orders. + Builds Metal ware orders. + Knowledge, skills and abilities needed: + Prioritization Skills + Ability to operate pallet jack + Knowledge of proper body mechanics + Critical Thinking Skills + Interpersonal Communication Skills + Annual required Learning Packet. + Annual departmental competencies + Coordinates and maintains routine vehicle maintenance checks. + Insures that vehicle has proper tune-ups and oil changes. + Insures vehicle contains adequate fuel for operation. + Submits receipts for maintenance expenses. + Knowledge, skills and abilities needed: + Knowledge of routine vehicle maintenance schedule + Organizational Skills + Knowledge of Department of Transportation Requirements DOT + Transports sterile and soiled instruments by truck and in enclosed transfer carts to assist in the prevention of contamination with bioburden. + Follow protocol for putting away and distributing sterile instrumentation. + Keep conditions favorable for the storage and transportation of sterile instrumentation. + Completes Sterility Check points on instruments assembled and shipped. + Knowledge, skills and abilities needed: + Knowledge of Sterile and contaminated material and appropriate flow processes. + Knowledge materials that are being transported and how to access MSDS information + Technical Skills + Knowledge of basic Infection Prevention practices in relation to the transportation of sterile and soiled instruments. + Driver's License with air brakes as applicable in relation to trucks with air brakes + Knowledge, skills and abilities needed: + Knowledge of Minnesota Department of Transportation Vehicle Policy + Bar Code Scanning + Knowledge, skills and abilities needed: + Knowledge of the Instrument Tracking System + Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served + Knowledge skills, abilities needed: + Knowledge of developmental stages and age appropriate outcomes and interventions + Good communications skills both written and verbal + Ability to accept cultural differences **Required Qualifications** + High School Diploma/G.E.D + Clean Driving Record + Class B Drivers License Driving Truck Class B License **Preferred Qualifications** + Distribution in a Healthcare setting + Computer skills to communicate with team and use of tracking system **Benefit Overview** Fairview offers a generous benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, PTO/vacation and Safe and Sick Time, tuition reimbursement, retirement and more!
