The Press Operator is responsible for operating automated and semi-automated production equipment to create and manufacture finished products. Available shifts include: 1st shift: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm 2nd shift: Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 10:00pm 3rd shift: Sunday - Thursday 10:00pm - 6:00am All shifts have the possibility of overtime Responsibilities of the Machine Operator: Prepare machine for production by positioning and securing dies, stops, guides, and turntables. Safely and effectively operates thermoforming equipment to produce quality product Reads job specifications and previous run data (if available) to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. Ensures job is in order prior to machine set-up. Performs required quality testing on products produced. Performs required quality testing on products produced, i.e. burst test, drop test, water table test, etc. Observes machine operation to detect piece defects or machine malfunction. Makes corrections to alleviate out of specification product. Position will entail standing for long periods of the day and lifting up to 50 pounds during shift. Required Qualifications of the Machine Operator: Previous experience in production, manufacturing, assembling, and/or machine operating. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude is essential. Flexibility to work overtime and extra shifts as needed. Experience reading and interpreting production specifications a plus. Measures the plate thickness and inserts packing sheets on plate cylinder to build up plate to printing height and installs and locks plate into position, using handtools, to achieve pressure required for printing. Measures the paper thickness and adjusts space between blanket and impression cylinders according to thickness of paper stock. Starts press, examines printed copy for ink density, position on paper, and registration, and makes adjustments to press throughout production run to maintain specific registration and color density. Removes and cleans plate and cylinders. Monitors the production during run quality, maintaining all required samples. Must work well with others in a team environment. Recording of time and production for job costing. Ability to meet daily production standards. Performs all required preventative maintenance in accordance to production schedule. Maintains a clean and organized work area and press. Observe company work rules and safety regulations. Position: Press Operator Job Summary We are currently hiring Press Operators for our manufacturing site. As a Press Operator, you are responsible for inspecting and sorting molded or assembled parts/ products for defects, and/or deviations from specifications. You will also pack parts into designated packaging or pallet configurations based on customer requirements and/or standard quality specifications. Pay: $16.50 Schedule: Monday - Friday 6am to 2:30pm Responsibilities Monitor press to ensure parts are completely ejected from the mold. Notify Production Supervisor of any problems observed or encountered during the molding operation. Pack acceptable parts into pre-defined packaging or pallet configuration according to the established quality standard. Discard or reject products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications. Mark/label completed container(s)/bundle(s) with designated item information according to establish quality standards. Record production data. Remove molded parts from the collection bin or table and perform visual inspection for conformance to established quality standards. Maintain clean and organized work area making sure to properly discard rejected parts and to keep area free of debris and standing water. Perform duties in conformance with all established safety policies and procedures. Transfer parts in/out of drying tunnel as required/instructed. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Observation - ability to visually inspect parts during the production operation and properly determine whether the parts meet quality standards. Reading Comprehension - Understanding written instructions contained in work-related documents. Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. Learning Strategies - Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things. Ability to use manual pallet jack or other designated material handling equipment to move finished good parts and/or components to/from the assigned workstation. Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively. Working in the manufacturing environment requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes protective eyewear, but may also require hearing protection, and reinforced-toe safety shoes. Position may require periods of physical exertion in conditions of low to high temperatures and humidity. Position requires continuous standing for periods of 4-8 hrs. Position requires physical mobility involving repeated bending and stretching. Must be able to safely lift articles of a minimum of 25 lbs. Physical Demands Position may require periods of intense physical exertion in conditions of low to high temperatures and humidity. Position requires the ability to stand, bend, and stretch over extended periods of time during a normal work shift. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
