SUMMARY:
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) will perform patient care tasks consistent with their level of training and scope of practice. When operating in an advanced life support setting, the EMT must work within their licensure level, and will perform care under the clinical supervision of a Paramedic. The EMT will be required to safely operate agency vehicles in both emergency and non-emergency scenarios, as well as utilize multiple pieces of medical and patient movement equipment according to manufacture instructions for use and agency guidelines. EMTs must also possess the willingness to assist caring for patients in the emergency departments of Cayuga Health System as directed by their leadership team, and within a well-defined in-hospital scope. Cayuga Health System values continuing education, and EMTs who have achieved their Advanced Emergency Medical Technician - Intermediate (AEMT-I) or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician - Critical Care (AEMT-CC) certifications will be recognized for this achievement and the additional skill sets they bring into the organization.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally, as well as over the telephone and radio.
* Have the ability to interpret written and verbal instructions and guidance.
* Utilize good judgement and remain calm during high-stress situations.
