Job Summary:
This position focuses on public safety by protecting life, property and the state transportation infrastructure, by providing safe and efficient movement of commercial traffic through the State of Arizona. The Fuel Tax Unit is responsible for sampling/analyzing fuel sources during roadside enforcement on vehicles of interest and when conducting unannounced inspections to identify fuel tax fraud. Enforces all state and federal laws and regulations relative to commercial vehicle enforcement and regulatory compliance. Background check and In and out of-state travel is required.

Job Duties:
Performs duties to include: screening commercial driver/vehicle credentials, weighing commercial vehicles, performing enhanced vehicle identity
inspections, registration compliance, commercial vehicle safety inspections, conducting traffic stops on commercial vehicles, enforcement of all
pertinent laws, rules and regulations and all other duties performed by Officers.
Collaborating with ADOT's Financial Management Services group and their team of auditors to use a data driven approach in identifying fuel tax
evaders. Fuel Tax Evasion Unit officers to provide education and outreach to individuals and businesses within the related industries.
Conducting surveillance at fueling stations to detect the misuse of dyed diesel fuel and use class fuel. Collecting information about the illegal
importation of diversion of untaxed diesel fuel or biodiesel fuels originating from sources outside of Arizona. Supplementing current enforcement
efforts with additional operational details which target fuel bootlegging and dyed fuel violations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

How You Will Make an Impact
Perform inmate head counts, cell checks, and searches. Monitor, log, and supervise inmate movement, recreation, visitations, cleaning, laundry, and security checks. Receive and release inmates by completing paperwork, fingerprinting, photographing, data entry, and conducting checks for outstanding warrants, protection orders, etc. Log and manage inmate property, money, and supplies. Exercise appropriate use of force and self-defense tactics to restrain disorderly inmates and deescalate volatile situations. As part of the Training Unit, this position will be responsible for managing continuing and mandatory annual training to remain in compliance with AZPOST standards, overseeing the Field Training Program and all documentation.
