Summary Description: The Residence Counselor is responsible for tasks relating to the daily operation of the licensed residential services. Counsel and assist residents in the development of necessary skills required in decision-making, problem solving, interpersonal skills, and goal acquisition, and document their progress on a regular basis.
Supervise and assist residents in daily living activities, including personal health care and grooming, individual clothing care, personal belongings, bedroom and living quarters.
Supervise and teach (through demonstration) food and meal preparation, purchase and storage, including sound nutritional practice; use of household and small appliances; and use of public transportation.

Supervise self-medication program of residents. Carry out prescribed medication programs established and documented in case records. Under direction of Program Coordinator, contact physicians and other treatment personnel when necessary to assure compliance.
Respond immediately to emergency situations by following emergency procedures. Educate and train residents to identify and access health-related and emergency services.
Responsible for electronic health record of residents and all necessary paperwork including: assessments, goal/service plan writing, service treatment plans/service plan review, and monthly progress note documentation.
Maintain all other necessary records pertaining to the resident, e.g., recording incident reports, acquisition of Authorization for Restorative Services and filing of collateral information.

This position has the primary responsibility of providing the full breadth of Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) counseling services to children of all ages of military service members and their families at military installations and off military installations. Services include assessment, brief counseling and consultation, action planning, referral to resources (assuring linkage as appropriate), and follow-up as indicated.
CYB counselors will also have a focus on supporting the staff and personnel of DoDEA , community schools, summer camps (if available/assigned) as well as providing parent training and guidance.
Provides training and health and wellness presentations, participates in health fairs and other base/installation activities focused on children and youth.
Enters counselor activity data daily through smart phone, or web application, to assure that reporting is accurate from assigned installation while maintaining confidentiality and anonymity of service/family member.
Establishes and maintains working relationships with community resources focused on children and youth and provides appropriate linkages. Consistently visible within the school which allows MFLC services to be accessible when working with children, the counselor must abide by line of sight protocol (another adult with responsibility for the child must be able to see the counselor and child they are working with at all times).
Partners with POC to provide CYB services in a manner that addresses the needs of the installation/facility. Develops an effective and professional working relationship with the installation/facility POC.
Manages duty to warn and restricted reporting situations according to DoD protocol and staffs the cases with Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.
Communicates with Regional Supervisor and participates in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information regarding trends and issues on the installations and in facilities to which they are assigned. Responds to critical incidents and special requests as directed by the POC and approved by the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) program manager. The CYB will flex schedule to respond to urgent requests as needed or at the request of the Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.
Participates in regular in-services/training, Quality Improvement committees, initiatives, studies, pilot programs other contract activities as assigned/appropriate as directed by the customer and/or Magellan. This includes participation in pilot program certification and training processes, completion of activity documentation, integration of pilot activities in non-medical counseling work, and the utilization of applicable technology to complete required activities.

Job Description
RiseWell Community Services is seeking a compassionate & dedicated Residential Counselor to join our team in Glen Cove, NY. In this role, you will provide supportive counseling, restorative services, and crisis intervention training in a licensed intensive community residence program providing short-term crisis and stabilization housing to people with psychiatric diagnoses.
The Crisis Residence program provides short-term residential support to persons exhibiting symptoms of mental illness who are experiencing a psychiatric crisis. Crisis residence programs provide short-term interventions to individuals experiencing crisis, to address the cause of the crisis and to avert or delay the need for acute psychiatric inpatient hospitalization or emergency room admission.
Requirements:
High School Diploma and 1 year of experience working in a mental health setting OR a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services. Clean, valid NY State Driver's License. Fingerprinting, criminal record check, and approval from the NYS Office of Mental Health.

Substance Abuse Counselor Company: Real House, Inc. Status: Full Time Reports to: Clinical Director
GENERAL NATURE OF POSITION: This position is under the supervision of the Substance Abuse Director and will provide substance abuse treatment services for clients who have a documented history of drug and/or alcohol abuse. This position participates in preparing case histories and record, group and individual facilitation, release planning, referrals and other duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assess the counseling needs of the clients
Assess clients using the ASI or using other standardized assessment tool and for adolescents using the CASI or using other evidence-
based validated assessment tool and diagnosing clients for substance disorders using the DSM-IV-TR;
Determine the appropriate level of care based on ASAM PPC-2R;
Obtain previous records that are relevant to the current treatment episode
Collaborate with the client in order to develop a written treatment plan that is client-centered and recovery oriented and includes goals and
measurable objectives.
The director of substance abuse counseling shall develop, monitor and provide clients and the treatment team with written schedules that
will be used to update each client treatment plan(s) in order to ensure that each client's treatment needs are addressed.
Provide substance abuse counseling services specified in the client treatment plan
Review clients throughout the treatment episode according to ASAM PPC-2R, to determine the need for continued services or
discharge/transfer
Review and, where necessary, revising the substance abuse counseling portion of the client treatment plan to address emerging problems
Developing the client discharge/transfer plans to ensure movement to the appropriate levels of care
Contact referral sources, providing case consultation and coordination with referral sources (for example: mental health treatment
providers, criminal justice agencies, schools, employers, the Division of Youth and Family Services)
Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team for assigned clients
Provide active case consultation
Document all counseling and education services, assessments, reassessments, referrals and follow-up in the client's clinical record,
providing appropriate signatures and dating of such entries, including those made in electronic records.
Must be reliable and consistent with attendance and punctuality to work.
Represent Real House, Inc. in a professional manner.
Understand and follow all policies and procedures of Real House, Inc.
Must have an attitude of friendliness and be able to communicate with all levels within Real House, Inc.
Maintain good working relationships with all Real House, Inc. Staff and Volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required and Preferred Education and Experience of at least one of the following qualifications
LCADC or CADC
Strong written and oral communications skills.
Ability to work flexible hours
Ability to work in and adapt the culture of a multi-cultural, community-based organization
Good inter-personal skills, ability to relate well with persons from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural groups
Commitment to maintain confidentiality
Understanding of the Agencys mission and culture and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with staff and clients in all
circumstances
Proficiency in computer skills, especially using Outlook, Word, Excel and customized databases.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 25 pounds
Must be able to ascend and descend up to three flights of stairs throughout the course of a normal workday.
Occasionally required to stand and walk.
Certificates and Licenses:
LCADC or CADC or other licensed health care professional doing work of an alcohol and drug counseling nature within their scope of practice.
Valid drivers license or reliable transportation
CPR and First Aid
Employment contingent upon clear fingerprint and criminal history record.
