The Children's Crisis Residence is a short-term, therapeutic residential program designed to support youth ages 10-17 experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health crises. The residence provides a structured, safe environment where children receive individualized care, including crisis intervention, counseling, and daily living support. The goal is to stabilize the child, address immediate mental health needs, and prepare them for a successful transition back to their home or to a long-term care setting. The program works collaboratively with families and mental health professionals to ensure continuity of care and long-term stability.
The Residence Counselor supervises and supports youth in their daily routine in accordance with agency policy and program protocols, while consistently demonstrating a strength-based approach, Trauma Informed Care, and de-escalation techniques. The Residence Counselor is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of the youth for the duration of their stay.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Provide direct care, supervision, and support to children during their stay in the crisis residence.

You will be taught how to motivate families for change, assess family patterns, implement specific and individualized behavior change plans to address referral problems and relevant risk factors, and generalize changes in multiple systems. Working with a caseload of 10-12 families, the goal is to increase protective factors, while also reducing the risks associated with family safety, and prevent the need for out of home placement of children.

Provides individual and group treatment for clients in program.
Provides family sessions to engage clients in family into treatment and address treatment issues.
Provides group sessions for clients on relevant issues such as addiction education, anger management, domestic violence, physical wellness, etc.
Engages and supports clients in behavioral modification through use of treatment plans
Complete all necessary documentation related to client services in compliance with Agency and regulatory standards.
Communicate with appropriate Agency staff, criminal justice agencies and related community organizations to assure coordination of client services.
Completes psychosocial assessments of substance use disorder clients to determine appropriate services.

The PAC is responsible for positive, collaborative relationships with clients, their families, the CARS' team and community partners. The PAC provides research-based assessment, counseling (individual, family, and group), crisis and clinical interventions, and case management services, including discharge planning, while assuring regulatory compliance.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Conduct individual, group, and family counseling sessions along with planning and conducting special activities, as assigned.
Address addictive and unhealthy behaviors with the most appropriate clinical intervention per agency guidelines.
Be on time with client administrative paperwork activities including but not limited to: Assessments, Treatment Plans, and Discharge Summaries, document activities in accordance with agency practices, complete timely monthly reporting on time, and document group attendance in a timely manner.
Monitor and maintain the safety and security of the clients and the facility.
Maintain confidentiality, as per agency practices and confidentiality law.
Effectively communicate with the team and community partners regarding client needs
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in human services or related field; or equivalent combination of education and SUD experience total 4 years. QHP status required.
A basic understanding of addiction and recovery issues.
Knowledge of basic counseling techniques, including treatment planning is essential.
Working knowledge of motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, strength-based principle of treatment and an individualized approach to treatment is desired.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Master's degree with 4+ years SUD experience.

Pay $55,000 - $62,000 annually / $2,000 sign-on bonus eligible for a $5/hour shift differential The Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor or CASAC will provide alcoholism and substance use disorder counseling services for individuals served by the Supportive Crisis Stabilization Center (SCSC).
The role will support individuals experiencing mental health and substance use disorders, referred to as co-occurring disorders (COD). The CASAC can assist in assessment of symptoms form clients who may have substance abuse barriers by applying professional judgment to determine appropriate treatment needs and levels of care. The CASAC utilizes Evidence Based Practices as directed by SCSC clinical leadership team. This includes performing diagnostic assessment, evaluation, intervention, referral and alcoholism and/or substance abuse counseling within the scope of their CASAC credentials.
Core Responsibilities
* Promote the individual's recovery by coordinating, developing and implementing in partnership with the individual, the treatment plan process.
* Promote involvement of family or other relevant collateral contacts in the recovery process.
* Provide individual psychotherapy, group therapy, and crisis intervention, within scope of education/certification.
* Demonstrate knowledge of group work management techniques and use those techniques appropriately.
* Provide linkage, referral, and case management as clinically indicated.
* Serve as a member of a Multi-Disciplinary Clinical Team.
* Respond to and support crisis interventions.
* Attend individual and group supervision with supervisor.
* Introduce clients to program goals, objectives, rules and regulations, client's obligations, client's rights and program operation.
* Provide linkage, referral, and case management as clinically indicated.
* Provides education and information to the client about alcohol and drug use.
* Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards.
Qualifications
* Associates Degree with valid current CASAC certification required (CASAC-T or Provisional).
* Completion of OASAS CASAC required 350 hours and CASAC certification attained within 6-months of employment considered.
* Minimum CASAC credential as Advanced CASAC preferred/ Maintain CASAC credentials, as required by New York State.
* Experience with Group Facilitation, substance abuse counseling, conducting and testing clients for substance abuse, and collaborative treatment planning preferred.
* Certain deadlines and unanticipated developments may require work during evenings, weekends or holidays.
* Must have a valid Driver's License

RCIL is looking for Student Workers to:
Review paper and electronic files for required documentation using a checklist.
Become thoroughly trained and proficient in the CDPAP process. Effectively address and resolve consumer issues, escalating concerns when resolution is not possible and ensuring timely follow-up as needed.
Track missing or incomplete items.
Follow up as needed (via email and phone calls) to request missing items.
File documents in paper and electronic files as appropriate.
Provide production reports as needed.
Data entry as needed.
Who may be considered:
Current college students, 18 years and older.
The successful candidate will be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, with the option of additional hours based on program needs. Hours must be completed during RCIL's business hours of Monday-Friday between 8:30amam-4pm.
Good customer service and computer skills including Microsoft Excel.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
